Emilia was a pleasure to work with again! We had to bounce around some different scopes for the project but her communication made everything very smooth!

    Highly recommended!

Emilia is very talented, she has a unique voice and really professional. Just wondering why is she not all over Spotify yet? One of a kind.
    Thanks again

Emilia is one of my favourite vocalists I've encountered so far. Her voice is so incredibly unique and she is simply an absolute pleasure to work with. She is super hard working and delivers true quality work. Do not let the chances of working with her go by, because I'm convinced that she will become huge very quickly. Hire her while you still can, cause she is a true rising star.

Interview with Emilia Anastazja

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I sing and co-produced one of the songs on the recently released Creed III movie soundtrack, featured on J. Cole’s Dreamville album.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm currently working on a few projects here on SoundBetter, including finishing a track with a "Kaytranada feel." I'm also wrapping up my EP, which will be released this summer.

  5. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  6. A: It always depends on the customers. Some just let me do my thing but some are more of a collaboraton and usually we ask eachother questions back and forth.

  7. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  8. A: Oof, good question. I think one of the biggest misconceptions about being a singer, especially as an independent artist, is that it's all glamorous or easy. People often just see the final product: the music video, the polished live show, the outfit, the vocals, the song on spotify. But behind that is so much invisible work: writing, producing, admin, emails, rehearsals, self-promotion, constantly trying to get people to care about what you're doing, while also staying creative and sane... Also, people sometimes assume if you’re talented, things will just happen for you. But honestly, it’s mostly persistence, consistency, and a lot of behind-the-scenes hustle.

  9. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  10. A: I know and work with Femi Temowo, and I couldn’t recommend him more highly. He’s the most talented and creative musician I know, he produces, plays just about every instrument out there, and is incredibly dedicated to his craft. On top of that, he’s a super fun, inspiring, and amazing human being.

  11. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  12. A: I love both for different reasons, but there’s something really special about analog. It captures warmth, soul, and imperfections in a way that feels more human and alive. That said, I use digital tools a lot too—especially for vocal production and writing on the go. So for me, it’s less about choosing one over the other and more about blending both to serve the song in the best way.

  13. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  14. A: I make sure to give everything I have to each and every project, my full emotion and dedication. If there's a deadline, I usually finish on time, and if for any reason I need more time, I’ll always communicate clearly and ask in advance.

  15. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  16. A: I love music in general, and I truly love singing and writing. Working on so many different projects helps me grow, not just as a musician, but also as a person. I love being creative, and there’s nothing like the feeling of finishing a song, it’s the best.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I ask when they need the project finished and whether there's a specific deadline. Having a clear deadline helps me stay organised, especially since I often work on multiple projects at the same time.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: Communication is key, don’t be afraid to share your vision clearly and ask questions. Actually the more communication the better:)

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: A microphone with an XLR cable, an audio interface, a computer, and a guitar with a jack cable.

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I’ve been a self-employed singer since 2014. Since then, I’ve been performing live both as a solo artist with my own project and as part of other artists' projects. I’ve been writing music for over 10 years and have worked as both a lead and backing vocalist for just as long. About four years ago, I also started self-producing and recording my own vocals.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: As a singer, I'm deeply inspired by artists like Whitney Houston, Sade, Emily King, India Arie, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, and many more. I love singing and writing in a variety of musical styles—Pop, EDM, R&B, Soul, Rock... I always aim to truly connect with the lyrics when I sing, bringing out the deepest meaning in each song.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I’d love to work and sing with Emily King one day. I love her songwriting, her voice, and just her as a human. I’d love to collaborate with her or even just hang out together, haha.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: Everything got easier and more fun once I switched from Logic to Ableton :))

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: EDM, Soul, R&B, Indie, Indie pop, Pop, Rock

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: I am a strong vocalist and songwriter

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: It depends on the client, but usually, if I write the song, I’ll start by doing a little demo — even just a phone recording — to share the idea. Then I’ll finalise the lyrics, and if they like it, I’ll record a finished version. But I’m always open to working differently depending on the people

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: It depends on the client but usually if I write the song, I would do a little demo first even with a phone recording, show them my idea and then finalise the lyrics and then if they like it i would record a finished version. But I am always open to wor differently depends on the people.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: At the moment I use an SSL 2+ USB Audio Interface with a Austrian Audio OC818 Studio Set Microphone. I record everything on Ableton

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Singers, musicians and songwriters like Emily King, Sade, HER, Meshell Ndegeocello, Corinne Bailey Rae, Mariah Carey

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I write toplines (lyrics and melodies), finish songs, and help with finalising lyrics. I record backing vocals, arrange vocals, and deliver everything ready to mix. I also play guitar and piano, and can compose a full song for you using vocals, guitar, and piano.
