It was great working again with Jeff. He mixed the song in a very good way that I could get the best out of it with mastering. Great song, great balance, and much greater to achieve this result together. Looking forward to the next project!

Interview with Jeff Tunes

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently working on my own single called "Rope Me Up, Cowgirl", a twangy pop rock track with hints of metal and blues

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Digital. I have never invested in any analog equipment, but over the years I have mastered the digital versions of any analog tech you might need.

  5. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  6. A: I promise to get you the sound you're looking for

  7. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  8. A: I dream at night that I'm clicking around in my DAW. It's all that I think about. So I get to do that as a job??? Unreal.

  9. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  10. A: That making (especially mixing) music is just like a big listening party. Listening to the same 0.359 seconds of a song over and over can drive a man nuts.

  11. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  12. A: What song would you like yours to sound similar to?

  13. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  14. A: Interface, Mic, Strat, MIDI keyboard, Speakers

  15. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  16. A: Started in 9th grade when my friend told me that he "figured out how to make dubstep." I then made electronic music for about a year, which evolved into electronic rap by 12th grade through junior year of college, which turned into doing remix contests on and off until graduation. Then I began to add in organic elements such as electric guitars, and now finally I'm making pop music with rock influences.

  17. Q: How would you describe your style?

  18. A: Electronic alt pop blues rock. That's my best guess

  19. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  20. A: The Band CAMINO. When I first heard them I felt like we had a similar style. 2 friends on separate occasions showed me their songs and said I sound like them. I also relate to the things they say in their lyrics.

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: If it sounds good, it is good! But it takes a while to

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: Rock, pop, electronic

  25. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  26. A: I use a Universal Audio Volt 2 interface and

  27. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  28. A: The Band CAMINO, Ian Kirkpatrick

  29. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  30. A: I record, mix, tune, and process vocals. I will also produce the whole track and record guitars as well as synths and virtual instruments.
