Endorsed by only those that understand, but understanding requires the will to do so, and when there is a will, there is a way. The language of music is my way.
Just another Nigerian multi-instrumentalist, raised in Ireland, who sings (occasionally raps) and writes songs while simultaneously being a scientist!
Conveying art through words.
My sound can be related back to artists such as; Frank Ocean, Brent Faiyaz, Masego, Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Although predominantly labelled as an R&B artist, I cannot be confined within a box. Soul, jazz, hip-hop and afrobeats play a fundamental part in my creative process. My latest single, titled: "Deeper Than", is out now everywhere!
My goal is to one day reach and positively influence millions around the world.

Omo continues to deliver, I have complete trust that my concept for a song will be carried out to a T and he never fails to deliver the goods!
I find it amazing that my sometimes deep concepts are absorbed and given back just as I had imagined, by such a young soul. - check_circleVerified (Client)

Once again home run by Omo Aston! Glad he's on my team! I expect more of the same from this young talent! I give a sometimes detailed sometimes not, concept for my vision for a song and he nails it every time.

Interview with Omo Aston
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I was involved in the songwriting and production of one of my own songs called "Deeper Than". It was heartwarming to witness the general positive reception of the track. It was especially rewarding because the song was created with 2 of my close friends, who I have been making music with from the very start. The fact that I can still listen to the entire song till this day is also a positive haha
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I am involved in some songwriting as part of an upcoming album for another artist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Check out "Kevin Carter", a producer I have worked with on numerous occasions using this platform, as well as "Zak Higgins", a fantastic sound engineer and producer who I started making music with 5 years ago. Also "Dendo", a fellow musician, skilled with his pen.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital is just analog with a fixed range and I like structure, so I'm going with digital haha!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: A service based on real and total care for the art.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The feeling of creating something that can evoke real-life emotions!
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Other than pricing and date of delivery, questions always vary from customer to customer, as each individual project is different and treated as such.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I can't think of any to be honest haha!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the message you want to deliver to the world and how will it positively impact those concerned?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Valuing the art of music and the impact it could have on the listeners life is more important than any monetary gains.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: 1) Cajon Drum 2) A change of clothes (including a massive jacket 3) A water bottle 4) Portable digital voice recorder 5) Toothbrush
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I currently have multiple career paths! Firstly, I'm still a scholar, studying a masters at the moment. I am a qualified sports, exercise and health professional. Secondly, I make and release my own music so I guess you can also call me a musician. Thirdly, I am also a digital content creator (I teach people how to dance, as well as entertain them with my other talents). Finally, I have been writing songs for 5 years now.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Expressive, intricate and daring.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Jacob Collier, because he's a creative genius who can play every instrument under the sun and because he truly values the art of music and how it makes people feel.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Don't overthink the creative process!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I try to keep an open mind to all kinds of music, but I do tend to lean towards the alternative side of R&B, Soul, Hip-hop and Rap.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Intricacy. Perhaps it's my OCD, but every detail matters to me!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Uniqueness, in the sense that I treat every song as a different journey, and in staying true to myself, I provide a service unlike anyone else's.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I understand, then digest the instrumental or song concept I am presented with. Then I let my mind and pen start the journey. Once that journey has started, I start calling on relevant past or present experiences. I also call on past or present inspirations. I try my best to never overthink anything that requires creativity!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have the basics, but ensure I utilise these basics correctly! 1) Vocal recording microphone 2) Interface 3) A laptop 4) DAW's (Pro Tools and FL Studio)
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: A comprehensive list of my musical inspirations include: Michael Jackson, Usher, Beyonce, Kendrick Lamar, Quincy Jones, Frank Ocean, Jacob Collier, Timbaland, Jay-z, Drake, Etta James, Brent Faiyaz, Bob Marley and Arctic Monkeys.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Firstly, I try my absolute best to understand exactly what it is that a prospective client desires from songs that I write. From the message of a song, to the emotions attached. Apart from the words scattered across a piece of paper, I also design melodies to help bring these words to life. All of these components will then be packaged separately, culminating in a reference track which has hopefully married both the artist' vision and my vision.
