I’ve worked with Dan twice, and both times I have really appreciated the clear and very helpful information given about the goals of the project, and the freedom to add a few of my own ideas to the tracks. Always great feedback and quick responses, and very catchy & fun songs- highly recommend !

Interview with Dan Edwards
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Make sure your arrangement is top-notch first - strip everything back to just piano and voice. The song in its most basic form should still work without all the fancy production tricks.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I'm really proud of my remix of Yours - PLS&TY (ft. Tudor). Even though it's only on YouTube, it's the first full song I had the guts to release, and that really is the biggest obstacle in music. You've just got to put yourself out there.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I've got projects with singers f, and I'm working on a dance pop cover of Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush which I am very excited about. People I've played it to keep pestering me about when it will be released - it's really lovely when people are excited about your work. I've also got songs I've either written myself or co-written that I'm pitching to various artists.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Rowan - pop session singer. She's my friend's daughter and has sung a few demos for me. She's just fantastic and sounds just like Ariana Grande. She reads sheet music too, which is super helpful for me as I can just write out harmonies for her without having to sing them myself first.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital. I love it when mix engineers use hardware on my productions but I don't want to go down that route myself.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise is that I really care about the songs I produce. It's such an honour when someone sends you a rough recording of a song they've written, so I always want to make the best possible track for my clients. I want us both to have something we're super proud of - something that's easy to promote because it has been made with love, care, passion and expertise. Otherwise, what's the point?
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Baker Grace. She's an NYC-based artist with the most gorgeous and truly unique voice.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My taste in music is very mainstream, so I like to work on stuff that would have a shot at getting into the charts. I like uptempo stuff with a driving beat.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Music theory and harmony. I've got a degree in classical music, a fellowship diploma in the subject from the National College of Music, and I've won prizes for my compositions for piano. This has really accelerated my career - I've only been producing music since the pandemic in 2020, but I sound like I've been doing it for ages, and this is 100% because of my solid knowledge of arrangement and theory. - Orchestra etc.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It takes me about a week to make a custom track,
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a lovely studio on the top floor of an office block in Old Trafford, Manchester, UK. I've got plenty of space to hang out, write & record songs And I get lovely dry vocal recordings. Apart from vocals and guitars, I work in-the-box (using samples, VSTs, and synths).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My favorite producer is Cirkut, who's largely responsible for the sound of Katy Perry and Ava Max - my two favourite pop stars.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly work as a producer, making a track around a pre-existing song, and then working on the vocal arrangment.
