My favorite part of finishing another song with Simon is writing another glowing review! There aren’t enough positives to explain just how professional, skilled and patient he is! Incredibly proficient and understanding of the artist’s vision - and able to execute anything. Highly recommend and am already starting my next song with him as I write this.

I've been working with Simon for a few years now but this is the first time I've had a full production done. He really exceeded my expectations and had some great ideas (like boosting the tempo) that have made a huge impact on the song. It has a vibe similar to the reference but also with it's own charms, and everything sounds totally polished. I'm super impressed and Simon was a delight to work with as usual. Somehow he did all this in just over a week too!

I would just like to take the time to express my gratitude to Simon for a new track he helped completely transformed to life. Simon had the barebones of the track and he arranged it exceptionally. Simon is very patient and I’ve been lucky to work with him for 3 tracks now. He’s shaped my artistry and sound with how he’s transformed each track uniquely. Highlight of this year has been the songs we’ve worked on. He is very reliable! I highly recommend him - 5 Stars! Thank you Simon! :-)

Interview with Simon Jacobsson
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: They usually ask me what my delivery time is. My standard answer is around 1 week from start to finish for a bigger project like a track production. But some clients will need a quicker turnaround time than that, while some artists will need a couple of weeks to finish their part & think everything through. So the exact time will vary depending on the project.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I'm working on multiple pop acts for labels, my own artist project and various songs for independent artists.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I mainly work in the box (digital), but at the same time I love the sound of analog gear and a lot of my favorite plugins are analog emulations.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That I will always do what I believe is best for the song, while ALWAYS listening and working around what the client actually wants and needs.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started as a drummer when I was around 10. Picked up guitar a few years later as well as some basic piano skills. Years after I was the lead singer, topliner and guitar player in a band. We decided to do an EP which I became the producer for. I instantly fell in love with the production side of music and got totally obsessed with it. I then decided that I somehow wanted to be a professional music producer and songwriter for other artists one day, and have since then, gotten signed by a publisher, had big releases with artists in countries like Korea, The Netherlands & USA. I've also produced a ton of songs for indie artists and clients online throughout the last year.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: My gutfeeling and ear for what I feel will work best for the song. But most importantly, always listening & keeping the artists vision as the #1 priority for the project.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: KREAM - Decisions, I produced the vocals and co-wrote the song together with the vocalist and another songwriter. We all had a great feeling about it once we finished it. Then shortly after, it was picked up by and released by KREAM and has now streamed over 29M+ on Spotify and still counting.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Malin Johansson, she's an amazing topliner and vocalist. She always has a super professional approach towards her clients and songs.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a producer would not be a musician.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Julia Michaels, her vocals are amazing and she has such a great feeling for melodies and lyrics. A true genius.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: To remember that the vocals are most often the most important element in a pop song, and deserves to be treated that way.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Making music and sharing the joy of it with others.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I always start by asking what their goal is for the project, what type of sound they're going for and when they need the project finished.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be authentic to yourself and do music that you truly love, never try to be exactly like someone else. People will notice and appreciate your music for it.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Macbook Pro, Apogee Duet, my microphone, speakers, a midi keyboard, and just hope the island will provide me with the electricity.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The most common way for me of working, is that the artist either sends me a demo acapella of the song they want produced, or ask me to make a track for them to write over with some sort of artistic guidelines.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Production and melodies.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a acoustically treated room with a pair of Yamaha HS8 reference monitors, multiple headphones, an Apogee Duet 2 interface, a Stellar CM5 tube microphone in a treated vocal booth, as well as multiple guitars and a MIDI keyboard.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Benny Blanco, Max Martin, Jonas Blue & NOTD. They all got a great feeling for simplicity in terms of melodies & hooks, with a top quality production standard.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mainly work with clients who are passionate about pop music in some kind of way, as that is what I specialize in and genuinely love myself.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Different kinds of pop music, from epic ballads to EDM songs.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: A blend of electronic and organic with a 2019 sound.
