Ovi is incredible. I have worked with Ovi on multiple projects and every time I feel lucky. When he sends drafts, I get so excited about them that I usually can't sleep that night. He is an excellent listener, highly skilled at translating ideas into music, and an awesome, supportive presence.

I've made two songs with Ovi; both were great experiences. This last one crossed a few genres and I'm so happy with what Ovi did with it! He's awesome!

I'm a producer and Ovi has mixed a number of songs for me over the years. He's always able to add an amazing pop sensibility to my productions. Things always sound sonically perfect! He's easy to work with, flexible and has an attention to detail that I have rarely seen in anyone in the music industry.

Here's what it's like to work with Ovi:
1. Easy
2. Efficient
3. Effective
4. E...Fun!
If I had to sum up my experience with him during the creation process of my band's EP and slap it on a T-shirt it would read:
"You can't go wrong with Ovi"I have had the pleasure of working with Ovi on many records over the last few years and can say he is one of the sweetest and most talented producers and mixers out there. He never fails to create exactly what you're looking for and he's a great team player! I am forever grateful for the work he has put into my songs and I highly recommended him to any artist looking to take their career to the next level.
There aren’t words to describe the genius musical mind of Ovi B.
He has single handedly made me one of the top singers in my country of birth, Afghanistan, and kept me there for over a decade by making hit after hit in - get this - Afghan music. Not only can he make exceptionally good music in all genres, but also of any region in the world. He is one of the kindest, most amazing human beings I know, and .
after 12 years of working together I still wonder how I got so lucky and blessed to have him as my producer. It’s an honour to work with him and call him a friend.Ovi is a hidden treasure in Vancouver. The mixes and mastering he’s done for me throughout the years have always been world class and very profesionally done. As a diverse hit pop producer and masterful mixer, Ovi always delivers technically amazing mixes that sound like they belong on Top 40 Hit Radio.
Above all, he’s honest, honourable and super easy to work with. I totally recommend Ovi! He’ll bring your project to the next level.
I heard a song on the radio and had to find out who the producer was. I had no idea where in the world that may be but it just so happened to be in the same city at myself. What was a quick introduction has turned into an ongoing relationship 8 years later. We landed our first single on top 40 radio in Canada and have went on to sign a single deal that had me overseas shooting music videos and performing at sold out clubs. With this being said the opportunity provided by Ovi is endless. His intentions for my project are selfless. Best producer I've work with to date. My pleasure and honour.
I recently reached out to Ovi to mix a project of mine. I've known and respected him for many years but this is the first time we've had the opportunity to work closely together - it will not be the last. Ovi is the kind of music professional we need more of. He was fast, he listened closely to what I was going for, and he delivered. You can't ask for much more than that.
I'm an artist and have worked with Ovi for the past 5 years. He always knows the current trends, but adds his own creativity to make a unique sound. He's amazing at making killer tracks, writing topline, or both, whatever you need. It's awesome to have someone work on a track from scratch through to mastering with a world class result. He's really patient with artists and we always have a great time in the studio.
I have had the great pleasure of working closely with Ovi for the last 9 years. He is truly one of the most talented individuals I have ever met, and his production speaks for itself. I have witnessed his multi-skilled mind work in many facets of the industry, from his musicianship, to melody and lyric writing, to taking basic demos and crafting them into masterful beats and hit songs. He comes very highly experienced and has a rigorous standard for quality. As it happens, Ovi is also one of the nicest people you could ever work with and I love whenever I get the chance to do so. Hire him.
I heard about Ovi from a friend of mine who had her 5 ep song produced and mixed by him. I absolutely loved that record and decided to have my ep mixed and mastered by him. Not only my jaw dropped every single time I would get my mixes back, but I had no idea how much of a difference a mix can make on the credibility of a project. I will be hiring him to produce and mix and master my next record.
Interview with Ovi
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I always try my best .
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: For mixing : "Should apply the processing on the tracks?" . My answer is: Yes, unless it's vocals in which case having both the unprocessed and processed version would be ideal.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I charge more than I actually do.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out as a lead singer for a pop-rock band in Romania and after trying to get signed, an established producer offered me a job to work with him on songs for pop celebrities . After being a part of a bunch of hits , I quickly realized that being in the studio suits me better than being in a band. In 2008 I moved to Vancouver , Canada where I was planning to live for only 2 years while working online with clients from home. Shortly after the move, I got my first European wide hit and right before getting ready to move back to Romania, I also got my first Canadian hit for a well known Canadian pop artist, Mia Martina. Mia's song - Burning - which I produced and co-wrote - received a Gold certification, #2 Top Canadian Spins and #6 Itunes Japan. This led to a fruitful collaboration with CP Records which gave me the opportunity to work with Massari, another well-established name in Canada. More hits and gold records followed with Massari : Brand New Day, Shisha feat French Montana and What About The Love feat Mia Martina.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Very adaptable . This goes both for mixing and producing.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: The kind that I like and that I can help improve.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For mixing I talk to the artist or management and get an idea of the direction they want to take from the demo mix which I always listen to very carefuly . I then send a first pass and from there I do the necessary revisions until everyone is happy. For producing/remixes or instrumentals I also have a conversation and get an idea of the expectations . I then send a first roughly mixed draft and based on the feedback I either go to mixing it or tweaking until its done.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Mixes for an Independent Label distributed by Universal Music and a Slap House Remix for an independent artist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Not at the moment.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: The most recent project that I worked on that I am really proud of is Vancouver singer-songwriter's album Nat Jay who is extremely talented. I produced, mixed and mastered all the songs on the album and co-wrote 7 out of the 10 songs. The main reason I loved working so much on this project is because we got along super well musically and she gave me the freedom to combine elements from different genres . The final result is unique and something both the artist and myself are very happy with.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. I love analog summing (and some analog processing , especially on the mixbus) but of course I use a digital platform (Abelton Live) and tons of plugins that sound amazing . In my opinion having a hybrid system gives me the benefits of getting an extra layer of classiness from analog , while still keeping things current and practical due to the digital side.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I get payed to do what I love.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the deadline, who makes the musical decisions , what is the goal for the project.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Listen to the work samples and if you think our musical tastes are similar, it's probably gonna be a great collaboration.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My Neumann U67, Neve 1073, Tubetech CL 1B compressor, Black Box HG-2, Dangerous 2BUS + , Convert AD+ converter,
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Any independent artist that is true to their art.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Less is more.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: The use of my ears and my taste.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Taste and experience. I make the song sound the best it can be (either mixing or producing)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio is located downtown Vancouver. I have a hybrid analog-digital system for mixing with an analog summing device like Dangerous 2BUS + and tons of other analog gear (most of it listed in my profile). My main vocal mic is a Neumann U 67 , but I have many options depending on the job. I also have acoustic and electric guitars that I play on the records I produce if needed as well as an upright piano.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My all time favourite producer is Max Martin. On the mixing side I love Manny Marroquin and Jaycen Joshua.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I mostly get hired to produce or to mix/master songs. I also get hired for doing remixes or instrumentals based on an acapella stem.
