I really enjoyed working with Winston, he knows his stuff! He is a talented producer that helped created a great mix that I am very happy with. Winston is friendly, supported me throughout the whole process, provided quick responses, and was well connected with others in the music industry. He took the time to understand what I wanted for the song and bring it into fruition. Highly recommend Winston if you're looking for a pro.
Winston is a very talented and experienced producer who is able to bring up the best in an artist weather he is co-writing , producing or both. I had the pleasure of meeting him and working with him in person and he is also a great human being - which explains why he is easy to work with. I realize this sounds a bit over the top, but this is my honest opinion.
Sometimes ridiculously skilled, talented people are assholes. Sometimes the most wonderful humans aren’t the most skilled or talented ones. Winston is both ridiculously skilled and talented AND a spectacular human being. I adore working with him and you will too.

I have worked with Winston many times and it's always a positive experience! He is a total pro and truly wants to create the best possible song. He is super creative, hard working, respectful, passionate and just an overall awesome person to collaborate with, and he always brings the song to life. Highly recommend working with Winston if you have the chance! He is AWESOME!
I was very fortunate to connect with Winston early on when I first moved out to Vancouver. He is one of the best producers and writers I've had the pleasure of working with. If it weren't for him I wouldn't be where I am today in my career today. One of our songs "Run" ended up being placed in multiple feature films, crazy right? He is creative, respectful, and genuinely one of the hardest-working creators I know out there. If you have the opportunity to work with Winston, I highly recommend that you do. You rock, Winston!!! x
I have worked with Winston on multiple occasions for an EP and many singles. He is top notch one of the best producers out there and has taken my songs from fragments (at times!) to beautifully developed songs. Recording with Winston has been professional, seamless and most importantly so much fun! He makes the entire process so easy that it certainly never feels like work ;)
A true mark of a seasoned professional is making things look easy. Winston worked with me on song development, recording, and production and each process went so smoothly. More importantly, they were artistically rich experiences. It feels so great when a relationship that feels so effortless can produce music that I am totally in love with. I can’t wait to make more music with Winston.
Winston is a master craftsman in the art of songwriting and organic pop production. I’ve had the honour of writing and producing songs with Winston. His seasoned songwriting sensibilities along with his talent to find the uniqueness of an artist is a special gift that only well experienced producers have. His ability to play, record and produce along with his patient and professional nature makes him an ideal and invaluable ally in the studio, whether it’s the first song you’ve ever written or just the latest of many on your musical journey.
Since 2017, Winston and I have worked together on many projects and he has been a huge mentor to me in the music industry. As a young artist, I came to Winston not knowing anything about professional music production, but with a strong desire to bring my songs to life. Winston guided me through the music production process and has taught me more than I ever imagined I could learn. We've created a number of demos and most recently released my first EP "Growing Pains," which has been streamed all over the world. I'm forever grateful to have found Winston and for our musical teamwork.
I had the opportunity to work with Winston in 2015. I Had ben searching for someone who would take the songs I had written and create something that was true to myself but also out of the box. That is exactly what Winston did. We call that album "The little record that could". I loved what he had done so much that we came together for album two, and created a new album in Alberta as well as his studio on Bowen Island. Over the years we have remained friends and will always consider him that. Who he is shines above and beyond everything that he does. I'm always grateful for him
I had the opportunity to collaborate with Winston on three singles. The entire time Winston was so personable and down to earth, I felt like we had been working together for years. With Winston, you get a seasoned musician, engineer, producer, and songwriter. He understands the process from every angle and his experience shows. He is very knowledgeable about the industry and is keen to share. He was always eager to hear my ideas and implement them. The finished recordings sounded professional and he made sure they sounded right, revising when needed. I look forward to working w/ Winston again!
I'm so happy I got to work with Winston. He brings so much talent and experience to the work. I went to Winston as a total newbie and he took my song to a whole new level. It was really a dream come true and the results speak for themselves. His place as an industry leader in the local scene is well deserved.
Recording with Winston has always been an absolute pleasure. I have worked with him on five different projects over the past 7 or so years, and hope to do so again! On three of those occasions he helped me produce high quality demos of some pop/rock/Americana songs, and in another instance helped me and a vocalist produce a five song EP for streaming release. Winston also helped me save a not fantastic sounding self-produced three song EP, by remixing it. A song from that EP ended up getting on a Spotify editorial playlist. Winston is an especially great bass player!
Winston helped me realize my five song EP in 2018. I came to him with my old piano tunes about 80% done, and he added some great ideas and instrumental accompaniment, which made my dusty old tunes into remarkable songs.
I returned to him with my last song, which was my f-cancer song, and his arrangement and production made it a thing of beauty.
I’d highly recommend him and hope to create more music with him in the future.
He’s a gem.I've had a great experience working with Winston on 9 songs. He is always able to capture the vibe I'm looking for and is also super fun and chill to work with. Winston guides my songwriting, has so many impressive skills on the technical side of recording, and can play a wide array of instruments. Would definitely recommend working with Winston, you won't regret it!
Winston produced and mixed a single for me and I was very impressed with the results. He's a great all round producer in a variety of genres. He's super easy to work with. Whether you're a singer songwriter looking for a collaborator, or if you want the full band approach, Winston has great production and songwriting instincts. I highly recommend working with him!
For the past 15 years I've marveled at Winston's technical skills (superb), his musical instincts (groovy) and guidance (impressive). In his capacity as producer, he brings kindness, authenticity and inspiration. As an engineer, he brings precision, patience and encouragement. As a musician, he brings collaboration, generosity and creativity.
Having worked with some world-class producers over the years like Glenn Ballard (Morrisette, MJ) and Steve Berlin (Los Lobos, the Hip), I can genuinely say that working with Winston counts as some of the best creative experiences of my music career. For the past 15 years I've marveled at Winston's technical skills (superb), his musical instincts (groovy) and guidance (impressive). Interview with Winston Hauschild
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! There's a time for analog. Especially vintage gear and tape machines. When the budget allows, I love tracking drums to tape. But I also absolutely love working in Pro Tools. Working in the digital realm has endless possibilities.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise I'll always be respectful, enthusiastic, honest and try my absolute best to give you what you're looking for.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It is a truly a dream job to sit down and make music every day. I love helping up and coming artists realize their dream. Taking an idea out of there head and putting it down on tape.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How much to record? I usually work within any artist's budget (within reason). If you have very little money, we can figure out a way to do something cool in less time. If you have a bit more to spend, it just allows us (and me) to be more creative and dig a bit deeper into the production.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: In a perfect world, how would you like this production to sound? Are you ok with trying new ideas and textures to create something original sounding?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Ask a lot of questions. Be clear about what you want to get our of your production. Provide examples. Be open to trying new sounds and ideas.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Acoustic guitar, piano, bass guitar, drumkit, iPhone. The creation of the song is often the most exciting part. With those 5 things, I could probably create some pretty cool music.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I was an artist for years and signed a record deal with Aquarius Records in Canada. After a long time on the road, I realized I was happier in the studio. Songwriting and creating sounds became my focus.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm a songwriter's producer.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Probably Paul McCartney. So much talent, so much history, so much to learn.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: The song is the most important thing. Every part added, even if it's just a shaker, must serve the song.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I work on a lot of singer-songwriter projects. But I've also worked in country, rock, pop and indie.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Multi-instrumentalist, building an arrangement from scratch, production, mixing.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have been a songwriter for the better part of 25 years. So I have a very good understanding of song structure, chord change options and lyrics. I will always encourage an artist to improve on their song if there's some easy adjustments to be made. If they want to co-write, I'm open to that too . . . but it's not necessary if they feel they don't need the extra help. Being able to play most instruments definitely helps with production. Whether you want a programmed beat and synth bass or vibe-y "real drums" and live bass, I can pretty much adapt to any style.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: After I've heard what an artist is working on, I begin to formulate a plan for groove and instrumentation. Generally I will mock up a draft and send it to an artist to check out. Making adjustments from their notes and work hard to help them find their vision. Once we've agreed on the basics, I'll have the artist track their vocals and send them to me to continue building the track. I try to keep the artist involved as much as possible along the way.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a hybrid setup. I can work in the box or with a bunch of outboard gear. The studio I work in has a Yamaha grand piano, Hammond B3 with Leslie, and a number of vintage drum machines. (Original Roland 808 etc).
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Beatles, Wilco, Kacey Musgraves, Max Martin, Andrew Scheps, Shawn Everett
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing: A lot of artists will come to me with a scratch vocal and acoustic guitar or piano and I will build a production out of that. Luckily, I can play most instruments. I love hearing what an artist's inspirations are and use those as guides to create a track that works for them.
