Hello! My name is Francesco Mazza, I was born in 1986 in Italy in the city of Como and when I was ten years old I came to live in Buenos Aires. I studied Musical Production at the Argentine Catholic University. I started working for three years at Disney, editing and cleaning the voice-overs for Art Attack and several other children's programs. This job gave me a lot of experience in perfecting voices to the maximum to make them sound impeccable. Those same techniques and level of detail are what I use today for my productions.

In recent years I worked with Argentinean artists Athenas and Tobias Buteler on productions for several Catholic music albums and we played concerts throughout America. We toured for more than 4 years in more than fourteen countries.

I currently work with many independent artists who trust in my experience and my abilities to turn their musical dreams into reality.

I have had the privilege to collaborate on a Latin Grammy-winning album (Juan Delgado) and on records by many other nominees (Athenas). I want to bring out the genuineness of each artist.

My wish is that more music comes to light and that this process is as genuine as possible.

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: This year he has the privilege of accompanying Mateo Rodo as recording assistant and guitarist at Estudios del Sur in Chile in a super production of El Purre.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: En este momento estoy trabajando en un disco de Lucia Zolezzi, y en una nueva producción de César Aguilar.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: To enter Protools everything Analog, then everything digital so that the workflow remains agile.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Try to guide him as best as possible to get a song that represents him.

A: Work on the Harmonic part of the song.

A: I realize that it is much more difficult to record a voice than to sing live. That's right, in the Studio everything comes out and it is necessary to be very precise when recording the voice, taking care of vibratos, consonants and note attacks.

A: Work long hours. :)

A: What reference do you have for the song you want to produce?

A: Work on the composition as much as possible, seeking a balance between the genuine and the composed.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been producing and working with Protools for 14 years. I started with Disney and then specialized in producing independent artists.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I try to keep productions as organic as possible.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with artists who can trust their Producer.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I try to mix it up and leave it a day or two to rest and listen to the song again.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I am currently working a lot on Pop, Rock, but also on very Indie songs.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is to accompany the artist to discover what they want to communicate and how. I am very good at editing to make it sound as natural as possible.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I try to look for the best structure, the best recording and audio quality. I seek to discover what the artist is trying to say.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: - I receive the demo and a reference. - I put together a structure of the song with harmonic and structural changes. - I record a first track with midi instruments. - I record the necessary instruments. - I receive the artist's voice recorded in a studio. Generally 5 tracks. Then I edit the voice by doing comping, and editing out unwanted noises. - Edit, Mix and Master - 3 Revisions.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I currently have a recording studio in Buenos Aires, where I work every day. I record the voices, guitars, basses and small instruments here. The rest of the instruments, such as pianos, drums and some very loud instruments, are generally recorded in a recording studio called 0618.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: My favorite classical groups are Lucio Battisti, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Leoanrd Cohen, Bob Dylan, Luis Alberto Spinetta, etc... More current my favorite groups are Phoenix and The War on Drugs.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: My most common job is to receive an idea recorded by the artist via WhatsApp and transform it into a track to upload to digital platforms. First I work on Harmony and Melody, then having a reference I record the necessary instruments. I edit, mix and master.
