The integral role of a bass line and how it informs the comprehension of a song is what brought me to the instrument 28 years ago and it continues to enamor me with its awesome power and possibility. An early lover of rock and hip hop, jazz afforded me the opportunity to explore harmony and how bass can harness emotion. Playing Brazilian, Balkan and South African world music opened my eyes to the expansiveness of rhythm. Now, all groove music is where I like to reside; exploring tonal, spatial and creative paths to find a low end foundation to the music.

Collaboration is one of the pure joys of music. As someone who has been a sideman, music director and a band leader, I know the importance of communication from both sides of the microphone. I also know how to leave my ego at the door for the betterment of the music.
