Interview with Stephanie Patterson
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: All I need is sheet music and tempos to get something recorded for you quickly. However, please let me know exactly what you are looking for. Let me know the mood and feel you want and I can accommodate just about anything.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started playing when I was just 7 years old. I've been playing professionally for more than a decade. I have both undergraduate and master's degrees in oboe, and have studied with major players in the oboe world. I currently spend most of my time playing with professional orchestras in Indiana, but am often called to play musicals, with wind ensembles, churches, and even with rock bands playing an orchestra concert. I'm up for any kind of playing and love seeing where the oboe and English horn can take me!
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I'm a classically training oboist with a flare for expressive solos. I'm especially good at capturing different moods and styles. Whatever sound you are looking for I can happily provide!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I predominantly play oboe and English horn in an orchestra setting, though I specialize in orchestral pops music, soundtrack music and video game music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My sight-reading abilities and intonation. Years of musical training have given me the skills to work as a true professional when it comes to oboe and English horn playing. If you can write it, I can play it!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Oboe and or English horn playing.
