Lifelong singer with experience both live and in-studio quarantining with a professional audio engineer!
Home studio with a Neve 1073 pre-amp into a Neumann u87 makes for clean, professional recordings. I will record a song you've written for $100, or I'm happy to write and record it for $200.
I specialize in pop/edm, but I'm happy to venture off into other genres especially because I have sung every type of song you can possibly think of!

Really great to work with. Superb vocals!

It took a little longer than anticipated but it was worth it. She embodied the song I produced and killed it vocally.
Excited to work with her again.

Is there anything she can’t do? I have thrown many different styles and genres at her. She is amazing in all of them. Great writer. Clean recordings. Killer voice.

One of the most talented people I've had the chance to work with. Witty lyrics and a top line that just grooves with the music. Paola is on another level.
Paolo Grillo is the best. Excellent to work with.

Interview with Paola Grillo
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: A ballad I sung and wrote that has a dynamic that moves from really quiet/intimate to really loud and emotional.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A song about keeping your loved ones safe.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Recording engineer and very talented singer/writer, Jaki Nelson!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital because I like getting stuff done in a reasonable amount of time.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I will always send over my final stems ahead of the deadline.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: Makes me feel alive.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Are you comfortable singing in the EDM style? Answer is: HELL YES!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That creatives are irrational thinkers and messy lazy slobs. Not my opinion at all, but there's definitely still that mindset with people that don't truly understand the music industry and how hard the people in it really work.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the reference material - who do you want me to sound like? Is there a particular vibe you're trying to catch?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Make sure that you check in with the singer to make sure it's a song that's in their range!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My laptop, guitar, a 9ft Steinway grand piano, and a Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer so I have something to burn.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I've been singing for my entire life, I've been hired to sing professionally both live and in studio.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: My style is constantly evolving with my mood and environment. I do tend to gravitate toward pop/edm a lot, but I will never disallow myself to venture off into other genres especially because I have sung every type of song you can possibly think of.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Illenium! I'm a happy chick with a sad girl soul, so I'm a sucker for songs that make me want to dance and cry at the same time. Love to make music like that.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Strive to be original as well as familiar to the average listener so they're open to hearing something new.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, EDM, indie, it really just varies.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I have studied everything from country to EDM. Whatever you want I can do it.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I have a voice similar to Lana Del Ray, with the ability to turn on a really big vibrato on both quiet and powerful notes. My range goes from a E below middle C to high C, and I have writing experience (see demo song).
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: If I'm writing by myself, I will write to my guitar. I also live with a recording engineer, so occasionally she may come up with a track for us to get creative and let the words flow.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: It's a home studio built in a library, running a Neumann u87 mic into a Neve 1073 Pre-amp. The computer runs Logic Pro x.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Ryan Tedder is a big musical influence in my life. I love his writing style and catchy melodies that he brings to the pop world. Another one would be Illenium. I'm always inspired by emotional anthem-like songs. They're the type of songs that bring the room together at a festival and always inspire me to sing my heart out.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I can sing and write top-lines to tracks as well background vocals such as harmonies and riffs.
