Shayan Amiri on SoundBetter

I am a music producer, songwriter & an artist developer from Los Angeles. I have over a decade of experience working with a variety of artists. I've cemented myself as one of LA's hardest working pop music producers and some of my latest clients are: Brian Justin Crum (America's Got Talent), Sabi (Britney Spears, Femme Fatale Tour, Warner Bros.).

"Shayan is a music wizard and a powerful producer" - Rohan (Australian Artist). "Shayan's a wizard" - Ryan Skyy (Remixer/DJ, Ariana Grande, Janet Jackson, Adele). "Shayan always brings the heat in every project" - Curtis Douglas (Producer, Songwriter, The Maine, This Century, Austin Gibbs). "Shayan's production is a force to be reckoned with" - Evan Griffith (Sony Epic Records, Firetower Entertainment).

Shayan's swift and decisive decision-making helped us get this track scored and recorded by an orchestra in under three days. An incredible achievement from a great producer

Shayan came to me with a stunning song, with sublime minimalist production and allowed me the freedom to do my thing. This track was a joy to work on and I had great support and clear, prompt feedback throughout the process. Really hoping to do more with this talented client.

Shayan is passionate talented and well versed in everything necessary to pull off a great record. It is rare to find people in the business who after years of working in it still genuinely love music , Shayan is that guy. On top of that he is a good hearted person and extremely professional, it doesn’t get much better than that !

Shayan is not just an incredible producer. He has a huge network of connections in the industry to make you go the next level. Being an artist from Sydney Australia, I travelled across the world to Los Angeles and put my trust in Shayan and could not have been more pleased with his efforts. His hands on method makes sure the artist is always comfortable with all stages of the recording process. From song conception to the final delivery of the song, he will always do whats best for the project. He knows how to get the best out of each artist and will go above and beyond in his work.

I have had the privilege to work with many talented producers in my 20 years of being in the music business and Shayan is preeminent. His natural ear, instincts, professionalism and ability to meet deadlines, far exceed the majority of producers and songwriters in the game. Shayan always makes you feel so comfortable. his positive energy and affirmations are infectious, which adds to the enjoyment of the songwriting and production process. Shayan is one of my favorite people to work with, and If you are serious about your project, I would HIGHLY recommend that you hire him!

I’ve worked with Shayan on multiple different projects some including his beats and sometimes just recording with him on someone else’s beat. Shayan Amiri is great at what he does, very talented producer and amazing mixing and mastering. Something I’ve always liked about working with Shayan is that he is very interactive, gives melody ideas, lyric adjustments on the fly, his genuine opinion on your performance in the recording booth and on your lyrics. This is something that doesn’t happen too often when i enter just any studio, some would call him a wizard... 🧙🏻‍♂️

Interview with Shayan Amiri

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: JAMiiSON, Rohan, Sam Louis, Ryan Skyy, Brian Justin Crum. Sabi. Frank Zummo.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: Jack Newsome. Esjay Jones. Jack is a beast of a top liner. Esjay is a fucking rock star, she can produce and write and she is the hardest working human I know in the music business. And recently I've worked with Steve aka StringArranger, and I highly recommend him for any strings related stuff.

  5. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  6. A: Both. I never limit myself, I'll use whatever needed to get the job done.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: I promise you'll love working with me and I promise you'll love the record....even 20 years from now.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: Meeting amazing people, making music and proving to my parents they were wrong, and that I was actually able to create success for myself with music.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: "How long have you been producing for?" - a little over 10 years.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: "You make it look so easy...this must be easy"... no it's not, don't get it twisted.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Have a clear vision of what you want. Ask as many questions until you are comfortable and well informed. Be clear on your expectations. Have the confidence that your investment will pay off one day... If you listen to me of course haha... JK..

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: MacBook Pro. NS10's (plus an amp). Apollo Twin. Alesis V49.

  19. Q: How would you describe your style?

  20. A: Simplicity within complexity.

  21. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  22. A: Automate all types of parameters to create a non-linear sound that evolves throughout the song. Automate volume, pan, filters, width, eq, compression, reverbs, delays, any and as many parameters all over the production to create excitement. Keep in mind, most of these moves should be subtle. We're not trying to make things sound un-natural and weird. The goal is to create movement, not take the attention from the most important thing (vocals).

  23. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  24. A: Pop. Hiphop. Dance.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: Overseeing a project. Project management. Building the right team for the project.

  27. Q: What's your typical work process?

  28. A: Learn the vision. Build the right team. Write, record, produce, mix, master, deliver files.

  30. A: My studio is located in Woodland Hills, California. Quick gear list: MacBook Pro, NS10's, HS8's, Apollo Twin, 251>1073>CL1B (my vocal chain), Ableton/Pro Tools, Plugins for days.

  33. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  34. A: I make sure my artist ends up with a fire record. My primary goal and intention is to bring my artists vision to life, all while not only competing; but also staying ahead of all sonic trends. Shayan Amiri's sound isn't one persons sound, it's the sound of a highly motivated and skilled team of dedicated individuals.
