Interview with CoCo Carmel
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Allow time for a great product rather than speed and less quality.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Saxophone, guitar, Great Mic, Tape recorder...
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Singer, Songwriter...Live work, Studio work and I have fulfilled all those things. I've been a professional for 45 years. I am oldschool in many ways.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Kinda Cool
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: 70's Rock, Soul (like original Soul 70's) Gospel, some blues.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Sax Solo work, choir or Background Parts. I also play bass.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a Protools setup with little outboard gear. I use a Manley VoxBox for vocals and Sax. I do try to keep things to a minimum because it's not so much the gear but what you do. I use Yamaha speakers, I am still on my 003 Rack which I happen to love. I have had tons of experience with incredible people in the business and generally my generation all feel the same. We don't use auto tune...take more time for the best quality. No frills...just the real deal.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: The great producers of the day (1970s) Quincy Jones people like that. I really love quality and a great sound.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Sax ...singing...I have my own studio so that makes it fun and easy for me.
I was the Mixer on Layla Track/ vocal on last track/ all others I was the producer/engineer/performer/bass player/Saxophone/ vocals in this production
