I'm a working musician, making a living as a touring and session guitarist.
For me, when it comes to recording guitars, it's all about what serves the song best. I'll choose the right gear and build the guitar parts based on the genre and according to your guidelines/references. I'm very influenced by blues and rocknroll guitar players but play many genres from r&b, soul and funk to country, reggae etc. I also love playing slide guitar.
I record all tracks in my own home studio with high quality gear.
I use different guitars in my recordings, including:
Fender strat
Semi-hallow Gretsch electric guitar
PRS DGT
Martin OM28 acoustic guitar
National resonator guitar(great for traditional blues and country)
Classical nylon strings guitar
I record electric guitar tracks through a combo Marshall amp or a Fender custom deluxe reverb. Can also use amp simulation and provide D.I signal

Interview with Daniel Helfman
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Listening. I listen to the song and what it needs before I think of any guitar sound or technique.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring to the song whatever's necessary to make it more exciting. It can be a simple hook line, a strong rhythm part to drive the song or a full guitar arrangement.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Client sends me their song, professional recording or a demo. We discuss the guidelines regarding the guitars. I record the guitar tracks and send them back in 5 days maximum.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use my humble collection of guitars - acoustics, electrics, 12 string, banjo, resonator, nylon string, ukulele. All recorded to pro tools through a UAD Apollo interface. I use a Neumann TLM103 for acoustics and amps for electrics recorded with an SM57, can also use amp simulation and provide D.I tracks if required.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: To me it's all about songs. I get inspired by good songs, doesn't matter what genre it is.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I record original guitar parts of any kind for my clients.
