Fascinated by hybrid sound, the warmth and unique sound of analog gear and the endless possibilities that digital plugins give you, I bring the best of both worlds to my mixing and mastering to create a detailed, diverse and individual sound.

My journey as an audio engineer and producer began in 2018 with the release of my first project, that luckily gained attention on Spotify and was added to official major playlists. With more than 30 million streams on the streaming platforms to date, I have been able to establish myself as a producer of lofi hip-hop and alternative R&B. Apart from composing my own music, I have always been fascinated by shaping the sound for others.
From 2019 to 2021, I completed a Diploma in Sound Engineering at SAE Cologne, where I developed a deep understanding of both the technical and creative side of music production. In 2022, I had the chance to work with Sony Music for a release.

Since 2020, I've dedicated myself to producing, mixing, and mastering projects, focusing primarily on Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul. My approach to mixing emphasizes hybrid techniques, blending the warmth of classic analog equipment like the 1176, LA2A, and Pultec EQ with the precision of cutting-edge digital plugins. This combination ensures that each track not only sounds polished but also retains its unique character and soul.
I’m passionate about every project I take on, and I strive to create a comfortable, collaborative environment that brings out the best. Whether it's mixing or mastering, my goal is always to realize the artist's vision and deliver high-quality sound that truly connects with listeners.

Interview with Bastian Kladny (Bastido)

Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Best of both worlds. I love the warmth and charm of analog gear and analog productions, but also like to combine it with the clarity and accuracy of digital effects when desired.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Starting out by writing and producing my own songs in 2009, at the age of 15, I've been able to make a living from my own music since I was included in some big Spotify playlists in 2018 which also exposed me to a wider audience in the lofi genre. From 2019 to 2021 I studied Audio Engineering at SAE Institute and specialised from mixing and mastering since then.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: I would basically describe the style of my personal music, and therefore the music I like to work with from other artists as well, as "stress-free". I'm not a big fan of very dark or very sad music, but it doesn't always have to be smooth and linear.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Take breaks and don't rush things. Sometimes the next morning everything sounds completely different and if it sounds worse then listen again in a few days. A production should never be influenced by a bad mood.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The most important thing for me is to keep the vibe of the original song. It happens that a song has been mixed and mastered in a highly professional way, but the vibe that the artist or the band recorded has been lost on the long way to completion. This is exactly what I want to avoid. I love to polish a song and give it smoothness, but in the best case I only make it gain fullness and warmth through my mastering.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Lately, I've been very fascinated by the return to analog sound. Be it artists like Tom Misch, Khruangbin, Benny Sings or Little Simz, from various countries the trend of hybrid production emerged in recent years, with which D'Angelo was already ahead of his time 20 years ago.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Basically, I specialize in mixing and mastering. However, besides the services for other artists I also do whole productions, focussed on (lofi) hip-hop and alternative r&b / indie.
