Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: A guitar, a multi-effect, one mic and a 4 track tape +tapes.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: I started mixing live gigs at the age of 12 and played in bands and recorded demos on a 4-track as a teenager in the mid 90ies. After school I build my own project studio with a bunch of friends and started touring around Europe. Got hired as a freelancer in a local studio in my early 20ies and from there I started working on more and more studio projects, brought my own clients in and finally built my own dedicated mix room 10 years ago.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Eclectic, clear, punchy

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Any artist that shares my enthusiasm for music and has a similar musical vision.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: When mixing and producing actively take breaks before you get exhausted to keep a fresh perspective.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Mostly Reggae, Dub, Jazz and World music and Pop. I love crossover projects that combine various styles

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Dedication, enthusiasm, professionalism.

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: I always try to enhance what the client is giving me make it sound clear and punchy and fix all issues that the producer wasn't able to fix. If requested I can also add production after the song is delivered For Editing/tuning to sample replacing and additional overdubs everything is possible.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: In terms of mixing it's always good for me to get a rough mix along with the files to double check if everything is in place and also hear the last state the producer or artist were listening to the song. As soon as I got the files I check if everything works, give feedback according and prepare the session. After setup I start the mix and give the artist a first version as soon as I'm happy with the result and ready for feedback. Then we go back and forth till the client is happy. Then I might apply the mastering if requested and export all versions.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: My setup is a hybrid setup with 24 Channels SSL summing, High End bus compression and tonnes of vintage analog tape delays and reverbs like Roland Space Echo, EMT 240 Plate, Tascam Stereo Spring Reverb and many others. All outboard effects get recorded for 100% accurate recall.

Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

A: As a listener I really got no limitations in terms of genres and I'm taking inspiration from artists and engineer/producers form all decades and musical styles.

Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

A: Most of the time I mix and master for producers form all over the world that need the final touch for their productions. I also do production work and love to remix songs. Getting more and more requests for mastering too and this is really fun too.
