Mariano Agustín Fernández
Top class string arrangements

I can manage for you the whole process of a strings/orchestral arrangements for your song. I can write, conduct, edit and mix arrangements for your music in my professional music studio counting the top musicians from the major orchestras in Buenos Aires.
I am a composer, arranger and musical producer. I've studied in Buenos Aires and in Paris where I've obtained my Master Degree. I've been working during the last 20 years with some of the most important musicians in Argentina. My most important skills are to write and conduct for instrumental ensemble and mixing acoustic music.
Strings/Orchestral Arrangements - Possible work scheme:
We can work from the concept or the basic idea of the song. Then I write the arrangement and prepare an excellent quality MIDI demo in which the feedback between us opens up. Later we face the stage of production of the arrangement: hiring of musicians, management of scores and recording. It is possible to attend the recording session remotely. Finally I send you an optionally edited and pre-mixed version so you can integrate it into your session. If you want I can also take care of the mix of the complete song.
Composition or Film Scoring:
Once having had the first meeting, we work on the main ideas based on cues in the script or synchronized with the image. I prepare a high quality MIDI demo. Then we proceed to the music production instance: hiring musicians, recording and mixing. We have a 5.1 studio for surround mixes.
Mixing
We will always look for the most suitable, professional and sonically attractive way to achieve the uniqueness of the proposed music.

Another great job from Mariano. Bringing my song to full vision as producer and musician! Most highly recommended!

Mariano has not only created gorgeous string arrangements for my songs Lita and From Her Home, he has also mixed and mastered Lita and Sweet As Roses and has done a superb job. So much so that I have asked him to produce my next song. I'm very happy with this very talented music man!

I've been working with Mariano on 3 projects now. He has written very beautiful strings for me on From Her Home and Lita (I've already praised his work so much and you'll just have to hear for yourself: Spotify, Apple Music, etc., for Scott Bentley From Her Home to here is incredible string arrangement (think Gordon Lightfoot, If You Could Read My Mind... it's THAT good!). Highly recommended. Thanks Mariano!

Once again, Mariano has done an exceptional job for me. On this song, Lita, he arranged the beautiful strings, but he also produced the song for me, putting together just the right elements to make my song as good as it could be! Mariano is highly recommended!

Mariano did another exceptional job on my song, Lita, composing an exquisite string arrangement and even finding me a guitar player that played so beautifully I'm having him play on more of my songs. Mariano has done such great work for me on my last two songs that I am asking him to produce a song for me now!

I worked with Mariano on 2 beautiful projects - writing an arrangement and recording an orchestra for 2 of my original songs.
Working with Mariano was simply exceptional - very professional, pleasant, and most importantly - Mariano was able to give my songs that special charm that only warm strings can give.
His arrangements, in my case, added fire and drama to the music, and the result was very exciting.
I give him a million stars, not only 5 :)

Again, it was a pleasure working with Mariano. A true professional, patient and attentive. Following events unrelated to the production, I had to suspend the project for several months. Mariano was very patient and very understanding. Finally I was able to get back to the project, and Mariano helped me finish it quickly and efficiently. I have complete trust in him.

working with Mariano was a beautiful experience. He's 100% professional, very communicative, and pleasant.
Mariano is one of the most amazing professionals I ever met. Everything he does is a blast. He can compose, arrange, produce and mix with superlative results. On top of that, he is the nicest and most passionate man on Earth.. I mean it, I could not recommend him more enthusiastically.
Interview with Mariano Agustín Fernández
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: The first thing is to understand the meaning of the song, to be sure to understand the lyrics and the message you want to convey. Strings usually add a dramatic variable to a song, deepening its emotional content. You can have different aesthetic approaches, that is, the arrangement can be minimalist, or cinematic, more or less protagonist, with a complex framework or as a flat harmonic support, among many different lines to follow. But always adding strings to a song will deepen its emotional direction. That's why I believe that the conceptual/musical understanding is the most important thing when approaching an arrangement, in order to make the best decisions that will help to develop its potential.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I receive a recording of the song, it can be from a professional recording to a homemade demo recorded through a phone. I have the first talks with the artist regarding his goals and aesthetic orientation. We can look for musical references to establish a common language. Once we have the first definitions I start working in Protools, adapting the demo to my work environment, if the song was not recorded at tempo I generate a grid to have the song ordered metrically. Then I start with the arrangement, programming the midi instruments to have a reference. When there is something more or less significant I send the sample to the artist to know if I am well oriented. If everything is fine, we continue until we have a complete idea of the arrangement. From then on we have up to three revisions to correct or change what is necessary. After that the production follows its course, we face the recording stage of instruments. In case I am the producer, I am in charge of getting the musicians and directing them in the recording stage. The musicians I work with are first class professionals, whenever necessary, and after feedback from the artist, they are open to revisions.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I usually do the complete production of the songs that clients send me. But the work I like the most is that of arranger, especially for orchestra. The idea is to establish a common aesthetic bond with the client, listen to their expectations and try to find a common language from which to develop the main concept of the song. I consider it essential to respect the artist's vision, however I like to establish an interaction in which I can propose my ideas. In the end, it is an artistic creation and requires the vision of all those involved, although obviously the artist has the last word.
