As a writer, my goal is to help you tell your story, in an honest and creative way. As a topliner, my goal is to make the listener feel every word.

Hi there! I'm Kayla Rae.

I do it all. I sing, write, co-write, produce, and record vocals all from my home studio in Reno, NV.
I've been lucky to have been mentored by Grammy Award winning songwriters and producers such as A-Rod Lambert, (Ariana Grande, Drake) Sidney Swift, (Nicki Minaj, Beyonce) and Autumn Rowe, (Dua Lipa, Ava Max) and implement their techniques in my songs. I've written with plenty of artists if you are looking for more of a collaborative process, but am able to write on my own if you want to share your prompt with me!

My writing style leans towards Dua Lipa, Ariana Grande and Kelly Clarkson, and I'll spend as much time and effort necessary to help you reach your goals. Whether through collaborative songwriting or vocal demos, we'll work together to take your song(s) to the next level. Additionally, on a case-by-case basis, I can help certain clients get connected through my network.

Interview with Kayla Rae

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Ariana Grande, because she works so quickly and I feel like I could learn a lot from her. We all could! On top of that, she has an angelic voice and I love her musical style.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on Pop and R&B for my personal projects, but I've written EDM as well.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My strongest skill is writing hooky melodies and top-lining vocals.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring raw emotion, even if it's happy or silly! Like I said, music is emotional and honest. If I'm feeling some type of way, that is going to come through in the song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: My typical work process, is making a few beats first thing in the morning. Then, I listen back and see what inspires me for that day. I like to work off emotion, because music is emotional. The more in tune and honest I am with myself, the better the song. After selecting my favorite beat, I like to go straight into melodies. Lyrics come last, and I love doing a first draft, stepping away for a few hours, and come back to see if I'm still a fan of what I wrote. If not, a rewrite takes place and I revise everything until I am satisfied with the result. :)
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio set up is simple, but I have one of everything I need. :) For the computer, I'm rocking with a MacBook Pro and I typically use LogicPro for recording vocals. Splice is my best friend when it comes to audio samples and production, and I love making fresh beats, inspired by instruments and sounds I really love, like: Saxophone, Bass, 808 Drums, Electric Funky Guitar, and even Acoustic Guitar.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Musicians that inspire me don't stop at famous folk. I adore my friends who I have been lucky to write with and their stories and work ethic always inspire me. As far as sonically, my biggest influences are Justin Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Adele, and Sabrina Carpenter.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work type of work I do for my clients, is songwriting and recording vocals-- lead and background.
