Ilia Mazia on SoundBetter

Professional duduk player experienced in different styles of music. Touch the hearts of your audience with authentic sound of Armenian duduk.

My name is Ilia Mazia. I play Armenian duduk for about twenty years. I performed and recorded with many artists in different styles - with world and traditional music bands, with blues and rock musicians, with Jerusalem symphony orchestra, women's vocal ensemble Sirenot and electronic ambient music projects (Vellua, Digital Samsara, Sergey Gabbasov). I can compose or improvise for you or play your written or recorded part. I can play duduk in authentic "Oriental" style, or with jazzy elements and feeling, or in "academic", classic style. I have high quality duduks in different keys.

My recent works:
Music for theater performance

Vellua - "Reo"

I play also some other folk wind instruments - Armenian-Kurdish long shepherd flute called blul (kaval), tin whistle, ocarina, Native American flute etc. Please pay attention - I listed myself as "Flutes", "Oboe", "Clarinet", but I play duduk and some ethnic flutes only. For recording I use the AKG mic C3000B. Feel free to ask any questions clicking the green 'Contact' button above. I will work on your project until you are satisfied.I look forward to working with you!

It was a pleasure to work with Ilia. :) The project was quite tricky to be honest and required playing ON POINT and Ilia did it perfectly. Wonderful instrument... great sound and expression! Very well done.

  4. Review by Craig W.

Ilia was great. I had a week deadline for the project. He turned his part around in 36 hours. I couldn’t be more pleased with his work. He gave me four different takes for my composition that all stand on their own. I would definitely seek him out again.

  12. Review by Tatiana Shishkova

I just recently discovered that Ilya and I have been working together on a common project for 4 years, but we haven't been presented to each other before now. How cool it is to work with a musician of such level. Ilya really loves his job.
