What good is the best song, the supposedly next big hit, or the most expensive production, if the master does not sound right and therefore not competitive?
If you want to compete in the music market, professional mastering is a must.

In the end it is about presenting yourself on all relevant music platforms (such as Spotify, Apple Music, Youtube..) and listening situations (such as a club /festival, radio, living room, kitchen radio, or smartphone) in the best possible way.
A complex field in which only the highest quality tools and processors are used and which requires experience and empathy.

Mastering of electronic dance music is different from conventional mastering, even professional and non-specialized mastering studios regularly work up a sweat when it comes to club & dance music. Its all about the low-end (Kick & Bass).

It is exactly these requirements that Menck offers as a longtime engineer, active music producer & DJ who has mastered the electronic music genres in all their facets and varieties.
Matt knows exactly what it has to sound like and what it needs achieve it.

Several Gold & Platinum awards, as well as international chart rankings such as US Billboard Charts speak for themselves.

Each master is created individually and is NOT processed through a preset template.

Interview with Dance Mastering

  1. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  2. A: Best of both worlds (hybrid studio)

  3. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  4. A: improving songs and sound design to the max.

  5. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  6. A: More then 20 years of experience in the field of electronic music production, mixing & mastering. In addition to the purely technical aspect, a large portion of empathy is required to understand the wishes and needs of the customer and of the song itself. Learning every day.. As an active producer and DJ for many years, there is hardly to find a more experienced mastering engineer who has mastered the electronic genres in all their facets and varieties.

  7. Q: What's your typical work process?

  8. A: Starting with a carefully listening session of the song & stems to see what is needed to improve it in the right way. If there are any mistakes or weak spots, we discuss with the customer what can be improved from his end in order to archieve the best possible mastering result. The actual mastering process only begins in the second phase. No matter whether it is quick to do, or a more complicated case, the master will only be sent out when we are satisfied with the result. In some cases this can take several days. Since mastering is always a question of taste, we are going to ask the client if he would like to have any changes before the project is going to get closed. Up to 3 revisions are always included without any extra costs. We are only happy when the client is satisfied as well.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: The key of a good mastering studio (besided of the engineer & experience) are monitor speakers, room acoustics and hybrid processing (analog & digital). We trust in the current topline series S3H of Adam Audio monitor speakers. For midrange balancing and for radio simulations we use the cassical Yamaha NS-10 speakers in combination with a Glockenklang Bugatti amplifier. The entire range of classic and current processors /plug-ins is available for the actual mastering process. Focusing on a warm, punchy and powerful sound with analog touch, Dance Mastering uses tools from: Bettermaker, WES Audio, Solid State Logic (SSL), Neve, Dangerous Music, UAD, Waves, Sonnox, Izotope, FabFilter, Elysia, Eiosis, Slate Digital, Fabrice Gabriel, Brainworx, Focusrite, Pro Audio DSP, Milennia, Maag Audio, Lindell Audio, Black Box Analog Audio, SPL, API, Vertigo und Shadow Hills amongst others.
