I came across Niklas profile by accident from the front page. I listened to his reel and it was exactly what I was looking for. I sended him a very rough idea and he simply transformed it and took it to a whole other level.. Niklas is VERY professional and working fast. Will def use him in future. Thanks again man. BEAST! :)
Niklas is extremely talented and very easygoing to work with.
Interview with Niklas Sterner
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: 2018 I made 'I Wouldn't Lie'. Probably the favorite song of mine. I can't really pin-point why this one is so special but I think it has to be the vibe we all had when we were making it. It was such a amazing time with close friends of mine during the process. Loved every second of it!
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Right now I have alot of new tracks coming up. One is actually being released this friday, called Emotions. Will be live on all platforms!
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Yes! I worked with a guy called Shawn Clover before. Insanely talented!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital! I've always been a digital guy. I love my plugins and I upgrade to new ones every months haha!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I can promise my clients that I do my best every time no matter what. And that I'll keep work until they are 100% satisfied.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I can produce music full time and perform as an artist for a living. I'm very thankful and having gratitude for that. <3
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: How long does it takes before I get my first revision? Usually 1-3 days!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That I'm a singer and lyric writer. I'm not! :)
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask what kind of deadline they have. Also if the have any favorite tracks that they can refer to.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be very specific of what you want and a clear vision/idea of the final product! Reference tracks is very appreciated aswell.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Ignition steel, sleeping bag, survival knife, guitar, fishing rod!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started out when I was about 15 years old. 29 today! I Remember downloading FL Studio and I couldn't stop playing around with it. I had a vision that I would play infront of a large crowd singing to my songs. That dream came true when I visited Japan for the first time in 2016 and I played out my song 'Sparks' and everyone in the crowd was singing along to it. I don't take that for granted.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Very uplifting and melodic. I also want people to feel what I feel when I'm making my music.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would love to work with Gryffin or Martin Garrix. I think my ideas fits very well with their styles and I look up to these guys very much.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I know it sound cliche but try avoid too much plugins on the master. Make it clean from the start and try get the power from sounds by mixing them correctly instead.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Depends but usually Pop, EDM and Progressive House!
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I would say writing melodies and chord progression is my strongest skill.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Everything expect vocals! I'm a terrible singer haha!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: It's often start out with an idea/melody i've been singing in my head. I try to make this idea into a fast demo in FL and then I countinue add more & more stuff. I mix alot during the process aswell because when it sounds clear and tight from start it's alot easier to build the track around that.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: DAW: I've been using FL Studio 20 for 10 years. Hardware: Macbook Pro 16 from 2021 together with Universal Audio - Apollo Twin DUO. Genelec 8040 Monitors & Arturia Midi Keyboard!
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I would say that I get inspiration from alot different types of areas!. It could be from movies, environments, life experiences etc. But if I have to name a few musicians that inspires me it would be Gryffin, Avicii and Madeon.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I do for my clients is creating a song based on their ideas & vision. Making sure that they're 100% satisfied with it. It can also be: finish a song up from an rough idea or enhance/remix a song.
