There are a lot of engineers that you can use. Some my have the same number of years of experience as me or more, some may use the same gear, but none of them will provide you with the level of attention to detail and service that I will. I've been engineering for the last 20 years. I have sat co-pilot alongside some of the biggest and most talented producers of the last 30 years crafting music that has sold over 100 million records.

Absolutely 5 stars. Jason from day one had very open communication which is very important not only to mix a song but to potentially build a relationship so you can understand context and future mixes. He gave me multiple revisions and gave me the proper time to listen to every revision. The mix and master itself actually sounded really good especially considering the low volume files I gave him. I would be happy to say more but I ran out of text space. 5 Stars!!!!

Just saw that Jason is on Soundbetter, and all I can say is, get this guy to mix your song - you will not be sorry! He's a massive pro with a ridiculous list of credits. He's on major projects all over LA, and is just a great human to work with. A+ all the way!

Interview with Jason Schweitzer

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: I would say my ability to collaborate and communicate with different types of creatives. Being able to listen and absorb their thoughts and ideas and inject those suggestions into the final mix.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: After I get all of the stems organized, I like to listen and see what's there, see what the artist and producer are trying to convey with the production and the lyrics. I like to get a feel for the direction of the song and get a nice plan together for the mix.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Make sure that your kick(s) if you use more than one, and your bass line up and are in phase with each other.. Nothing can ruin the low end of a song like phase issues.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I help clients with everything from mixing and recording to production arrangement. I help the song reach its fullest potential and deliver it as a polished finished product.

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: I'm huge fan of analog, I think it sounds the best, but its not always the best decision for every song. Analog costs more to do and that money can always be used to help further the song after the creative process is completed. You have to weigh the benefits versus the cost and what needs to be done help the song permeate the marketplace.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: My promise, is simply this: "I will do everything in my ability to make sure that the song reaches its highest point. I will do anything to make sure you vision/dream is achieved.

  13. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  14. A: When looking for someone to help make your vision come to fruition make sure that I or anyone else shares your musical vision and taste.

  15. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  16. A: All modern genres of music including pop, hip hop and R&B. I also mix Classical and Jazz.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring a unique musical quality to every song I mix. I've been musician since the age of 5 and I bring a perspective to the mix which I think engages the listener in a more personal and intimate way.

  19. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  20. A: I mix in the box till the end which I run through my custom setup to add that analog magic.
