Interview with George Sloan
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love working with artists and collaborating. The chance to meet new people everyday and create interesting work is always a huge upside to this job.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like to try and make the process as collaborative as possible. Working with clients to achieve what they really want from their track. It's important to me that the whole experience is relaxed for the artist, and most importantly fun.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I own a studio in Ireland that houses a large live room, control room and separate isolation booth. I work in the box on Pro Tools 2020. The studio houses 20 channels of class-A preamps including Neve, Drawmer, Focusrite, SPL and more, alongside an impressive microphone collection with Aston, AKG, Sennheiser, and Shure and more.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: There are lots of incredibly talented engineers that inspire me every day. Andrew Scheps, Tchad Blake, Peter Katis to name a few.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing, engineering and mixing. I work a lot with solo singer-songwriters, so I spend a lot of my time helping musicians to build tracks from guitar/piano and vocals to a fully produced record ready for release.
