Pietro Dalla Vecchia on SoundBetter

I do guitar arrangements for songs in the style that you prefer, originals or covers. I specialize in pop, rock, and fingerstyle guitar with jazz, gypsy jazz, flamenco, bossanova, funk, fusion influences. I can start from your vocal lines and add music to it. I can record guitar tracks for your album release. Get in touch!

Including up to 3 versions of the track:

Step 1: We get in touch. You explain to me what you need and provide a musical reference (let’s say you want your guitars in “John Mayer’s style”: you send me a link of one of his songs in which the guitars match what you’re looking for).

Step 2: I receive your music (or your track without guitars) and I record a few ideas over it.

Step 3: I will send you a first recorded draft (it could be 2-3 options of guitar lines), and we discuss the adjustments via chat/video chat.

Step 4: I will send you a second draft (single track) to confirm the adjustments.

Step 5: I will send you the final version in .wav and .aiff high quality according to your specs (dry, no mix).

I also do transcriptions, the price will be adjusted depending on the track (4€ up to 4 min track duration).

Check out my website www.pietrodallavecchia.com if you wanna know more about me! :)

ps.: I don't do "trial" recordings or free recordings in exchange of credits on your album..

Interview with Pietro Dalla Vecchia

  1. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  2. A: Andrea Lepori as producer

  3. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  4. A: Analog has unique warmth, although Digital has come incredibly closed in quality lately.

  5. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  6. A: What are their influences, the reference music that they would like me to take inspiration from.

  7. Q: How would you describe your style?

  8. A: I grew up listening to Rock-Blues/Metal/Funk and Pop music, then I slided to Fingerstyle and Jazz guitar passing through Spanish guitar and Gypsy Jazz style

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: MacBookPro, LogicProX, Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, Hughes&Kettner Tubemaster 36, Fender Stratocaster, Cort Sfx-10, Angel Lopez.

  11. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  12. A: Tommy Emmanuel, Jon Gomm, Andy McKee, Jason Becker, Paul Gilbert, Nuno Bettencourt, Sylvain Luc, Bireli Lagrene, Jimmy Rosenberg, George Benson, Steve Vai, John Petrucci, Joe Satriani, Al Di Meola, Joao Gilberto, Toquinho, Miles Davis, Pierre Bensusan, Ted Greene, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Schubert.

  13. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  14. A: I receive a variety of requests, from writing and recording an entire guitar arrangement to recording guitar solos or giving arrangement tips to finish half-composed songs.

  15. Q: What's your typical work process?

  16. A: Once I receive a request, I listen to music of the style I've been asked to compose on, to get in the right mood. Then I go through the specs and characteristics of that style. At this point I analyse the track that was sent to me and I start jamming and recording ideas. The first feedback from the client is the most important, because it guides you to what their specific taste is. It's very difficult to understand what each other has in mind before having an actual recording to discuss. From this point on, it's usually minor adjustments followed by the recording and export of the clean final tracks.

  17. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  18. A: I bring my expertise and professionality. If I'm allowed to, my personal taste and creativity ;)

  19. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  20. A: I always give 100%, my aim is to give the best product to my clients, I'm not afraid to go the extra mile.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Be as clear as possible in what your looking for, and don't be afraid of telling me what you like and what you don't in my first draft ideas. I'm willing to work a few extra days as long as you're happy with the result.

  23. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  24. A: Outside session works, I'm recording my own EP of original compositions in fingerstyle-percussive guitar.

  25. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  26. A: I'm a guitarist, not a producer, expect clean and precise guitar tracks in return. Mix and effects I'll leave it to your producer ;)

  27. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  28. A: I range from pop/folk to heavy rock to funk to gypsy guitar, with plectrum and/or fingerstyle.

  29. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  30. A: I've been working as a session musician and dep musician for the past 6 years. Before that I was touring with my bands and teaching in music schools between Italy and Uk.
