Interview with SK Mastering
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Depends on the song.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I am the first person who can hear the cool song in this world!!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I'll ask your reference song, this will be a great help to know your preference of frequency balance and loudness. I would not just imitating reference song.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: 1. Please share your reference song with engineers. That would much help for the work. 2. If you have a tight budget you don't need to hesitate to contact to me, I'll respond what I can do for you within your budget.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: A good mastering EQ would essential.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: More than 10 years of produce. At first worked with more closed network then expanding.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Mid-low frequency is often muddy, in such case use EQ and cut 2 db around 200 hz to 350 hz with narrow Q. Masked frequency, below 200 hz will appear and make more low frequency alive.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Techno, House, Amapiano
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: 1. Nice low frequency, floor-rocking KICK and BASS! 2. Clarity for each frequency 3. Appropriate stereo image 4. Appropriate loudness
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: 1. Discuss with clients about final image, reference song 2. Deliver some takes as 1st take. 3. Depending on response for 1st take, apply some minor changes. 4. Deliver final stereo mix / master to client 5. Complete!

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Any work is precious to me.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Integrity is very important, I promise I'll be so.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Frequent question is "How can you improve my song?". My answer depends on each song but commonly "I can provide more clarity for your song."
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: It is more important for the love of music than purchasing gears.
