My literal secret weapon. Takes every recording of mine to the next level - from a bedroom recording to a studio orchestration. Such a blessing working with Andrew. Couldn't recommend anyone more.
What Andrew does with strings is everything that I love about music.
Andrew is a pleasure to work with. He listened, responded well to feedback, and ultimately delivered a beautiful final set of stems. I am very happy with how it turned out. Would recommend Andrew 10/10
Andrew delivered a perfect string session that sounded exactly like I imagined, and in only a few days. Thank you !
Working with Andrew was fun and easy. His arrangements were perfectly complimentary to my music and shined just the right amount. His recording quality is clean and pristine, fitting into my mixes easily. I was looking for his arrangements to take my recordings past the finish line, and they did so with effortless style and grace. And all of this was done much faster than I had anticipated too. He's a pro.
Truly breathtaking string composition... every time. This was my third time working with Andrew and certainly not my last! This guy is the best at what he does. He will take your recording to the next level guaranteed.
Andrew was great! He did a perfect job in a very small amount of time, i’ill work with him again soon!

Andrew is amazing. He was so easy to work with. He followed up with updates on progress, let me hear demo mockups throughout the process, and delivered an AMAZING finished product and took my song to another level. He is highly recommended and I definitely will be working with him on all my projects that need strings.
Excellent work! Beautiful strings recorded professionally.
I will definitely come back for more.
Absolutely brilliant work. Andrew and his team performed by original arrangement with precision and emotion and delivered a high quality recording. Will definitely be working with him again.
Andrew has always taken my songs to the next level - from bedroom sounding productions to full on orchestral/radio ready pieces! I'm a huge fan and will be continuing to work with Andrew on every string project I have! He also has great turnaround time!
Andrew is an outstanding human and musician. Everything he does is fantastic and he is an absolute joy to work with! I can't wait to send Andrew another project.
Andrew is absolutely fantastic. Not only did he produce exactly what I needed, but he also added some marvelous parts! And all of this in only a few hours. An excellent arranger and performer. Could not recommend him highly enough.
Andrew does unbelievable work and I appreciate how flexible he is to my ideas and revisions. It reminds me why I make music.
Andrew is an absolute master - taking basic programmed parts and transforming them into a fully fledged live string arrangement. Could not recommend him highly enough! Thank you Andrew!
Wonderful talented player and excellent delivery. Beautiful sound. Will come back for more.

Was a pleasure working with Andrew. His resume speaks for itself! Incredible musician and player who really understands how much to serve the music and give it what it needs.
Top notch arranger, songwriter and musicianship! Great communication and customer service! Highly recommended!
Perfect arrangement for my song. Very good sound of strings. Quick and pro. Thanks Andrew
Amazing as always! Takes everything to a whole new level!
Unbelievable job and incredibly fast turnaround. Got exactly what I hoped for here. Andrew is a rockstar!
Andrew's string quartet performances were beautiful and very well recorded. He was very responsive and tried to make sure everything was exactly as I wanted it.
Once again, epic result!! Love working with Andrew... He is a Legend!
Had Andrew record strings over my band's new single. Not only is his playing extremely professional, but he was one of the nicest and easiest players to work with. An absolute pleasure. Thanks Andrew!
I have hired string players before but it was nothing like this experience. Whenever I played this song I intended for it to have strings but never in my wildest dreams would they come out as perfect as what Andrew made for me. Loved everything he did with it, can't wait to hire him again.
Andrew recorded a number of different string parts for me and was nothing but friendly, professional and helpful throughout. He was very patient with me when I was pondering any potential amendments (in the end there was no need for any; he's that good!), and followed my direction perfectly. He clearly has a knack for understanding the mood of a track, and performing to fit that. It goes without saying, of course, that his talent with strings is immense. I look forward to working with him again!
Another incredible string arrangement! Was so great working with Andrew on this idea.
Andrew was such a pleasure to work with, he made this process seamless and stress free! Great with arrangement and including direction, happy to make any amendments or changes as per request. Easy to communicate with and quick turn around time. All round quality! Definitely recommmend.
Andrew is a fantastic string arranger. I worked with him using some early stage ideas and he really brought them to life. His attention to detail, beautiful performances and passion for raising the bar made for an amazing string section on my song. Throughout the process he was very responsive, quick to communicate and determined to get it right. I was very lucky to work with such a brilliant talent and would be eager to work with him again in the future.
Andrew has done an incredible job!
The string arrangement is better than I could have hoped for.
Great to communicate with. Extremely professional and nailed the brief.

Interview with Andrew Joslyn
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: string and horn arrangements for pop, hip hop, folk, rock, and contemporary music clients. I also do a lot of scoring work for podcasts, film, TV, and commercials. I'm getting into full production and co-writing with artists now since I was signed with BMG/Sony.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Top industry professional arranger/producers like Dave Campbell, Quincey Jones, and Vince Mendoza.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Fully treated mixing room with Mac Pro, Apollo Quad interface, dual Grace m501 preamps, single UA solo 610 preamp, stereo pair of Coles Ribbon 4038s, Neumann TLM 103, Neumann U87
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Get a stereo Wav track from a client to write to (sometimes a lead sheet provided, but not required.) I'll take that and drop it into my Pro Tools setup, layout the structure, figure out the main melodies and countermelodies I want to introduce, and write out a rough arrangement on sheet music. I then record a 'rough' of my arrangement live in my studio (I work faster recording live than providing midi mockups); provide that to the client, and await feedback, and go back and forth that way.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I flesh out a song, and bring a whole new dimension of sophistication and epicness to them.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Orchestral arranging/production, and string performance.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Across the board.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: use pre-delay with tracks to make them sound like they are 'slightly' sitting behind another take (like a sitting string section.)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Cinematic and lush
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: Playing violin since age 5 - did my post grad at Berklee School of Music for Music Business, composition and scoring for Film and TV, and then toured with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis from 2008 to 2017. Also was in a rock band from 2002-2012, and toured heavily on the west coast.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: violin, viola, sheet music, turn table, and vinyl collection.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the Bpm for a track; do you have a lead sheet; what is the situation with songwriting/publishing %'s?
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I'm not just a string session player. I am a contributing writer to a track, and can bring an organization and efficiency to recording sessions that others don't.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Do I do revisions? Yes.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The flexibility, and the endless supply of unique and varied projects.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I promise to provide you with a top level orchestral recording (I provide anywhere between 16-24 stems of strings typically), which has been RX'ed and cleaned up, performed by a world class musician (over 28 years of experience), and easily plugged into your mix and session. No hassle, no endless pitch correcting and messing around with crap string player performances.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Analog and Digital
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Cowriting with artists with BMG, and film scoring with a production company down in Los Angeles, as well as podcast scoring in Los Angeles as well.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I cowrote the song "Praying" with Kesha - and it became a chart topping hit, and a huge rallying cry for the #MeToo movement.... I am still floored that I was a part of that process. Hugely grateful.
