Yukon on SoundBetter

Starting as a Staff Engineer at EastWest Studios and then Glenwood Place Studios, Yukon has spent over ten years refining his ears while working with top artists and producers. He has combined a traditional approach with new technology, making sure the vibrations captured by your music are preserved wherever they are played back.

Mastering:

In Mastering, Yukon polishes mixes to be present and clear; maintaining all of your feel by subtly trimming sonic “fat” and skillfully leveling out dynamics.

His experience in eliminating harmonic and loudness discrepancies allow for your music to translate across all the mediums available to your audience.

Each piece of the mastering chain is specifically chosen and placed in an order appropriate to your music and every detail of finishing your project is given the attention it deserves by Yukon’s lifetime of work in recording music.

Mixing:

When mixing any amount of elements together, especially to create something meaningful and artistic, the small details can quickly pile up to create a barrier that prevents any idea from finding clarity or meaning.

For Yukon, skill and experience allow him to grasp how to combine details in a way that makes sense in the genre and scope of your production. He creates a product that is musical, cohesive and relevant.

Accomplished at using traditional and modern techniques, Yukon’s mixes are full of depth, balance and life. Always ensuring your music is heard the way you intended.

Yukon is amazing. He took my song to a level that I never thought it could reach. I would highly recommend him to anyone. His level of precision and detail is like nothing I have ever heard.

Interview with Yukon

  1. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  2. A: I have taken the best parts of my analog upbringing and incorporated them into a digital work flow. With Mastering in particular I prefer to work with a trusted listening environment in the digital realm. This allows me to build a virtual mastering chain that is tailored to the material I am working on. I used a combination of gear from trusted names like Shadow Hills, SPL, Neve, SSL, Manley, Ampeg, Brainworx, UAD, Waves, McDSP, Fabfilter and many more...

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: I have been lucky to work with a number of legendary engineers and producers and am most inspired by Alan Parsons. He is friendly, respectful and a professional gentleman. He is an amazing musician and has an ear that can't be beat. I have incorporated more from working with him into my technique than any other mentor I've had.

  5. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  6. A: I most commonly do Mastering for my clients. I am also confident in my mixing and recording abilities and love working on most any part of a record.
