I have mastered a few songs for Hergeir over the last few years and every time I am blown away by the excellent mixes he creates
His vision when arranging and producing his output is stellar! He gives you a gem to work with. I simply make it shine a bit more than it already does.
Hergeir is one of the finest producers I have worked with (I mean that, Hergeir! I love your stuff!) and I sincerely hope to work with him again and again...

Interview with Music Junkie
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I just worked on a great alternative indie project by John Allard. And I loved every bit of the project and also learned quite a bit from John, as he has a very unique approach to music.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital and the answer is quite simply that the analog equipment is way too expensive compared to the digital equipment. And you also get way more gear for a lot less.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: that I'll do my absolute best, and that it's not about me and all about you and your vision
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The creative process, meeting new artists, hearing new music and just the honour of letting me in on your creative ride
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: Can you do x, and usually my answer is yes.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Unfortunatly I cannot turn a badly recorded production into a million dollar sounding production. My best advice is to get the recording and overall sound and instrumentation as good you possibly can before the mixing/mastering stage. That way your final result will be way better and you'll be way happier
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: How many tracks, stems, bpm, deadline and what artists they like the sound of. That way the whole process is sooo much easier for both parts
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I love it when a client has a clear vision for the music, and I love to be a part of the journey.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: The client contacts me and tells me about his musical vision, and then I do my very best to make my client 100% happy and help them reach their goals. Be it producing, mixing, mastering or whatever I can help with
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix in the box, but you wouldn't know if I didn't tell you. That's how good the digital world of music has become.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced 2 songs for FRUM, and her first ever single ever received several record deal and gig offers, and now she's an accomplished and succesful artist.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: yes, I think Sefi Carmel is an excellent mix/mastering engineer who's also super positive and fast. A genuine good guy and great engineer.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Apollo Twin, 650 headphones, Ableton Live and my Neumann microphone. That way I could record, produce, mix and master.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Scandinavian melacholy usually shines through, and that usually makes the music touch people.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Alternative, hip hop, ambient and rock
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started in a punk, rock and metal band 20 years ago called Makrel. We released 3 albums, appeared on hitlists, toured in Europe and received a couple of awards. We split after 10 years, and since then I've been the main man in Steso. We have received international praise and won awards as well with Steso. For the last couple of years I've been heading in a different direction with producing, mixing and mastering.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Massive Attack and Amon Tobin because of their sonic universe
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: If it sounds good to you - keep it. Don't allow yourself to be blinded by the way of the experts og musical dogmas. If waht you do makes you feel something - keep it and don't delete it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: My own unique sound
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Chiché incoming. It's even a cliché to say that something is a cliché. Anyways I can promise you that I'll bring you something that's 100% original and unique. Something you won't find elsewhere. You can also check out my work and I promise you that you'll have a very hard time finding any similar sounding artists.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'd say Massive Attack is a major influence. They have always been way ahead of the rest and continue to do so. Amon Tobin is another one. His sonic universe is next level stuff.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I specialize in production. Usually my clients want something different and unique sounding. They want to stand out from the crowd, and then I always do my very best to meet the clients musical vision and ideas.
I was the Producer, guitarist, beat maker, backing singer and also played the keys in this production
