Canadian Producer, Vocalist and Engineer fluent in French and English. Production and vocal credits include: Mahdi Ba, Blacksands, Cam & China, Misha, Foura, Jacob Aedem, Phoebe Day and more.
I specialise in vocal production, music production and mix engineering. As a Producer, it's also my passion to see a track succeed from start to finish, from demo to radio-ready releases.
When working with vocals, I love to listen through the record and figure out when we think harmonies, vocal stacks or adlibs are needed and how we can best treat them. As a vocalist and artist myself, I know what it takes to get your vocals to sound upfront, interesting and well mixed in a record.
Producing a song with you is about blending sonics, arrangement and dynamics in the record. It's about making the song sound full, tall and wide, but also leaving enough room for the artist to really stand out and shine through.
Mix engineering has been the latest passion I've been working on to perfect my craft. I use plugins like Waves Central, Universal Audio and Fabfilter and process my mixes with analog to give my mixes a bright, tall and wide sound.
You can come to me with any or all of these needs and I will work with you to get your records out to the world!
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.

Interview with Jordan Astra
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: Hourglass, released on my birthday November 27th, 2020. I am especially proud of this project because it is my third LP in 4 years where I've written, produced and mixed the entire project. Throughout the LP, I was fortunate enough to work with a-lot of talented session musicians thanks to SoundBetter. Some of the additional instruments were live bass, string sections and brass sections.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Brand new releases for 2022. I'm in incubation phase over winter here in Toronto, where I make a bunch of songs from start to finish and pick my favourites to release over the year.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both. Analog has dynamics and characteristics that digital doesn't have and vice versa.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: Under promise, over deliver.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: It doesn't feel like a 'job'.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: This is just a hobby.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I specialise in being a producer, that means I see records from start to finish. If you're looking to have your song radio/streaming ready for the world to hear, that's what I do.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Solar panel, laptop + charger, keyboard, monitors, usb interface.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I started making beats in my dorm room, remixing my favourite songs. Released my first records as an artist in 2016 and now professionally working as a full time, Artist/Producer since 2020.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: A lot of the time, less is more. Leave room for the vocals to shine through because there's no instrument that is as versatile or unique as someones voice.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Pop, HipHop, Nu-Funk/Disco, Soul and R&B.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Resilience. Music takes patience, timing and skill and this is something I've been working towards for nearly 10 years now.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Punctuality, class and determination. My passion is seeing a song through from start to finish. As a vocalist, I deliver strong hooks and verse melodies. I also love vocal production and arranging vocal harmonies. My production and mixing style is bright, tall and wide. I have an appreciation for layers and really try and perfect a songs stereo image, it really helps immerse you into the song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I mix on EVE Audio SC205 and reference with Focal Elears for my monitor setup. I record using a Telefunken AK47-MKii and Shure Sm7B connected to a Focusrite ISA one Preamp for my recording combination. My DAW is Logic Pro X and I use Waves Central, Splice and Soundtoys as my main sources for VST's, Plugins and Engineering tools.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo (The Neptunes early 00's) Bruno Mars, Anderson Paak Dua Lipa, The Koz, Ian Kirkpatrick Take a Daytrip, Hit Boy Jack Harlow, DJ Drama and Don Cannon
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Topline/Feature Vocalist, Music Production and Mix Engineering. I love working on Pop and HipHop records.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Everyone I've previously worked with to be honest, that's why I was so motivated to be a provider as well: It's the kind of people I like dealing with.
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: What's your rate? It starts with a love for the record or concept then we can discuss fees.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Tell me about the record? What's the goal of the record? Is this a part of a bigger project for you? Who are your influences? Who would you like to hear this song? When is the project due? Anything else you need from me at this stage?
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Smooth and feel good.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Pharrell Williams. His career, knowledge, connections and insight to the music industry would be a fantastic opportunity to grown and flourish as a Producer and Artist.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I like working in Logic Pro X because my workflow is efficient and relatively quick. I have a fluent understanding in my hot keys to make sure sessions for artists are quick and concise. When I'm not recording, I'm producing and mixing and I try and move on to various parts of the song to stay inspired and to not feel fatigued or even restless with a song.
