Hello! My name is Olly Betts and I run The Crows Nest Studios in Hackney East London. I am a Producer/Engineer and Drummer. I specialize in recording bands and singer/songwriters, producing commercial releases at affordable prices. I also offer an online mixing and drum recording service.

I have played many basses for many artists and offer a fully professional recording service for electric and acoustic bass. Credits include: David Gray, Talk Talk, Fairground Attraction, Brian Eno, Michael Jackson, Peggy Seeger. I also collaborate with writing and production and mix in Protools.

I have worked with artists from many styles, including Elbow, Gregory Isaacs, Joe Bataan, Jack Costanzo, Kathryn Williams, Peggy Seeger, Lo Fidelity Allstars, Bootsy Collins, Henry Fong, Willy William, DallasK and my own Latin band, Grupo X. I offer trombone sections, solos and can provide a full horn section, as well as horn arrangements.

Versed in jazz, r&b and improv/electronic/progressive styles, I work in many genres and delivery formats. I've studied the masters of studio bass from the 70s onward, and I can provide everything from the "Steely Dan" bass sound to avant approaches. I'm a quick study, good reader and can develop unique bass lines for your project.

I take my inspiration from the sound of the 70s and modern alt rnb. I love music that is a collage: where two disparate parts just touch one another in the sonic-scape. I philosophize music just as much as I make it, and always set limitations for myself to work within. I produce and mix music because I love to exercise creative problem solving.
