Based in Nashville, Jordan is a 3X GRAMMY nominee and graduate of Icon Collective College of Music in Los Angeles. His music career started following two paths as both an artist and mixing engineer. While writing, producing, and mixing his own music under the project Years of Youth, he also helped artists bring their musical vision to life by assisting with co-production and mixing. His first studio experience came from interning at The Fab Factory recording studios in North Hollywood, CA where he gained valuable hands-on experience as well as frequently sitting in with legendary engineer Dave Pensado.
Soon after, Jordan began working at Osiris Studio in Los Angeles, home to 5X GRAMMY winning mastering engineer Michael Graves. Here, he began to shadow and assist Michael as he learned everything he could about the mastering process. Today he continues to assist Michael Graves, while also mastering projects for the studio and his own network of artists, producers, and engineers.
Jordan brings a "mindful" and simplified approach to the mastering process. Appreciating and loving the song as it comes to him, letting the music tell him what it wants or needs. Do not expect to have a heavy handed master returned. With a true outsiders perspective, Jordan looks to pull the final 10% out of a song.

Interview with Jordan McLeod
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I feel comfortable with everything. I have mastered modern records in the electronic, pop, country, indie, and alternative genres. I have also mastered rare, reissued records such as 60s psychedelic rock, 70s country, and 80s eastern European electronic music.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: A trusted ear with a complete outsider's perspective to help pull the last 10% out of your song.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I approach mastering with a simple process and philosophy. I'm not here to give you a heavy handed master, I'm here to protect the character or the song, accepting it as it is, and letting it tell me what it needs. My main tools are an EQ, compressor, and limiter. I believe there is so much that can be done with just an EQ, which is where I do most of the work.

A: Mastering

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My studio consists of a complete acoustic treatment build from acoustic consultant Gerhard Westphalen. My monitors are MUM-8s from Present Day Production, fed signal digitally. I work all in the box with the Neumann MT48 interface as my main monitor controller. It's a absolute joy to be able to work in a room and accurate and exciting as this room.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Being a hybrid of producer and engineer, crossing two different sets of skills in a way that delivers a unique final product.
