Matt went above and beyond to make me feel like he was the man for the job, he chatted with me and made sure I felt heard and my vision was clear. His sax part came out amazing and took my track to the next level. I'm going to be calling Matt again to work on some more music together.

I really like what Matt did with what he was given. The individual parts ebb and flow beautifully and added a whole new dynamic to the song! Gave it the human feel I was hoping for…and tone is fantastic.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Selmer Series II Alto Saxophone, Keilwerth 'Shadow' SX90 Tenor Saxophone, Buffet R13 Clarinet, BAE 1073, Burl B80 Mothership, Burl Vancouver x32 (Analog Summing), Burl B4ADM Mastering Converters, Ableton Live, Mac Studio, UAD Ultimate, Waves Complete
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: The producer, Konn, has me on really fun records and is making waves in dance music. Also - I see the jazz tenor sax giant, Ted Taforo, playing around town in LA and just saw his profile on here. World class player.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I think a bit of both is the way to achieve the best result. I have $20,000 + in analog summing and mastering gear, but each song and approach is different to best serve the music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Versatility across genres and tones, understanding how to fit into a production.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Saxophone and Clarinet overdubs, mixing and mastering.
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Lead lines for EDM Label Release
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Dance/Pop.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Impactful playing with a producers mindset.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Be mindful of scientific notation (ex: E1, E2, E3, etc. on your piano roll) when you voice the notes in your chords/leads/melodies/bass/etc - you can avoid mix issues and create space in your productions by keeping each part out of each others way in the sonic space. (example: if your bass is playing E1 (E0 in Ableton) then it is prudent to not have E1 playing in any other synth/piano,etc..)
