I’m a producer with around 12 years of experience, I’ve worked in every process of music production and toured as a Live Sound Engineer with several artists of national and international acclaim. I've been awarded with a Latin Grammy in 2017 and nominated to The Grammys in 2018 and 2021.

I’m a full time mixer, I’ve had the chance to mix over 800 songs in the last 5 years for many emerging and experienced artists from many parts of the world such as Colombia, where I'm from, USA, Ecuador, Argentina, Spain, Canada, Switzerland, Japan, among others. A lot of them have become instant radio hits, been featured in movies, TV shows and even commercials.

My goal is to serve the artist and his art, taking it to another level. I always go the extra mile so I can get the best result and surpass their expectations.

Interview with Luis G Diaz

Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: I have an agenda that's constantly moving, I have the blessing of working with several artists, most of them are returning clients, so its really fun to see how their projects grow and I'm honored to play a small role in their careers.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both!! Day to day, technology is getting better and today we have amazing plugins that offer new things to audio as well as others that emulate vintage gear in a very accurate way. However, analog gear has some sort of "magic" that give something extra to the audio that I still find difficult to model in the digital domain.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: I won't stop working until you are completely satisfied with the mix! Even if I have to mix it again!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: That I can listen to a lot of music!!
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I would like to work with an artist who, despite the limitations or the comforts, always looks to make its best song.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Keep it simple!! Less is more. Maybe a common tip, but lately I've seen a lot of productions full of things that actually bring nothing to the song. If you are putting an element, but don't want to hear it... then don't put it.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think that my ability to understand what the producer/artist was thinking when creating the song and translate it in the mix.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I'm always looking to explode the strengths of a song and make them work around the song itself. All songs have a story to tell, my main goal is that everything that is part of it, tells the story in a correct way.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I have a dedicated mixing environment in Bogota, Colombia. With a Universal Audio Apollo and an additional satellite to run more plugin instances. I also feed my mixes with several other brands of plugins so I can achieve different types of colors and adapt my mixes to different styles. One of the most important pieces in my mixing process is my SSL Fusion, where I can process from individual tracks, such as vocals to the entire mix. All this around my Focal Solo 6Be accompanied by a pair of mixcubes and Beyerdynamic headphones for extra referencing .
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: During mixing I'm always pursuing the best result for the artist. For me it's very important to enhance the arrangement of the song I'm working on, while preserving or either boosting the essence of the artist. I'm always aware of that.
