I've had the pleasure of producing several projects with Jackie, and she is hands down one of my favorite vocalists/songwriters to work with. Her attention to detail, and dedication to getting the song done the right way, is second to none. If you need a professional and talented top liner, I highly recommend you hit this bad ass up!

Interview with Jacqueline Loor

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: I just released my debut album "Show Them" that contains 13 songs with a clear story and message that I think is resonating with people. It was inspired by my identical twin sister and I wrote every single song on that album. 4 of the 13 songs have already found sync placements so that's something I'm proud of too.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: I'm wrapping up a traileresque dark pop cinematic song for a brief (opportunity in a sync placement), a Christmas song for another brief, and I'm wrapping up a couple of other Latin pop songs for my upcoming Latin pop album.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: I know Boomfox Productions run by Kris Bradley. She is my mentor and I have learned so much from her and I keep learning from her. She's a boss so I would recommend her to anyone.

  7. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  8. A: Digital because that's what I learned and that's what I know.

  9. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  10. A: I promise to bring 100% of who I am and what I have learned to any project. I don't hold back, and I have a crazy work ethic.

  11. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  12. A: I love creating songs that can bring some good to the world. Even my darker songs I feel help people feel and heal, and the fun songs I do can really bring joy.

  13. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  14. A: They ask me things like how did I come up with that song, and how did I come up with those haunting high notes. I have learned to not get in my own way so when I work on a project I allow myself to feel it and let the song freely develop. I used to judge myself a lot but I've worked on my craft long enough now where I'm confident in my skills and I trust myself more when it comes to writing a song, melody and lyrics and letting myself effortlessly find those notes too that can make people feel something.

  15. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  16. A: Sometimes people think I was born singing the way I sing now and that's definitely not the case. I have worked really hard to learn my instrument.

  17. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  18. A: I definitely think communication is key and knowing what the client's references are, the style they are looking for, and if there is a theme or message they really have in mind and would want to deliver is all important. Really understanding the client's needs and wants is essential so I can make sure to deliver.

  19. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  20. A: My advice would be to follow your gut.

  21. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  22. A: I would bring my Taylor 818 acoustic guitar, my Yamaha piano (hoping there is an outlet to connect it to) my Shure mic 87a, Fishman Loudbox amp, and a mic stand! I would be doing mini concerts on this island!

  23. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  24. A: I've been writing poetry since a kid for all the wrong boys, and then I taught myself guitar at 18 and wrote songs for all the wrong boys. I wrote and sang for years but only for myself because I found it to be really cathartic. I then had a moment of clarity when I was living in The Canary Islands and knew music was what I needed to do. This was in January 2018 and ever since I have been a freight train learning a ton, networking, growing, honing in my craft, finding my voice and letting the world hear it. I played live all over miami with my band in 2019/2020 up until the covid lockdown. I then took a 6 month sync course and found that to be a great path for me and other artists considering it can be really lucrative while remaining authentic. The more I lean into music, the more doors keep opening. I bring all of my experiences to whatever project I'm working on.

  25. Q: How would you describe your style?

  26. A: My style is authentic, effortless, honest, passionate and has a clear message. When I do Latin pop and Dance music it's more fun for me because I let loose and find myself dancing at the mic, but I still always have a clear message to tell in those styles.

  27. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  28. A: I would love to work with Milck who is so talented and such a genuine artist who is on a mission to make the world better. I love working with good people who want to bring more light into the world.

  29. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  30. A: In order to get a solid song, I've realized listening is so crucial. I listen to the people I work with and I listen closely to what I record to make sure I'm getting solid takes. I use the "comp as you go" method which I prefer over taking countless of takes and then having to go back and listen to all of them.

  31. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  32. A: As an artist I just released my debut album of 13 songs that are in the dark, cinematic pop, and female empowerment pop style. I am about to release another album but this one will be a Latin pop album embracing my Spanish roots! I topline a ton to dance music and darker pop that gives people chills and makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up.

  33. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  34. A: My strongest skill is writing a catchy and powerful song in different genres including dark pop, Latin pop, pop, and dance.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I am a songwriter who has been writing for many years. I have honed in my craft as a lyricist and I have learned melody is king. I took a year long mentorship course with some of the best songwriters in the world and learned a ton. I have also taken countless of classes with vocal coaches to learn as much as I can of my instrument. I am always learning and I love it. Naturally, I am a happy person and I have a positive outlook on life so I bring a ton of positive energy to every project. I am also the daughter of exiled and immigrant parents so my work ethic is crazy solid.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I love to write music using my piano or one of my guitars I have in my studio, and recording any and all ideas. If I stumble upon something that makes me feel I keep going and let whatever wants to come out come out. When I receive a track I listen with my Audiotechnica ATH-M50x headphones while sitting at the mic (Shure Sm7b is connected to a boom on my producer desk) ready to record. I find the melody first and then let whatever words I feel come out. I dig into that and finalize the melody and lyrics there. After, I stand at the Aston Condenser mic and record my final vocals. I'll listen back and comp the best takes to get lead vocals. I then keep going and record doubles if needed, and the harmonies and adlibs that I hear in my head for the song.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have a home studio with my Universal Audio Arrow interface connected to my intel Mac mini. I also have my Shure Sm7b that I use for my collaborations via zoom and I have my Aston Spirit Condenser mic that I use to record my vocals. I have a mic stand and vocal shield that does wonders for capturing just my vocals and nothing else. I record using my DAW which is Logic Pro X 10.7. I have a Martin acoustic guitar, a Taylor 818 acoustic guitar, and a Yamaha p45 all which I use for songwriting.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: I'm inspired by instrumentalists and producers who can create a sound that makes me feel something.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: The work I do a ton of and I love to do is topline. I get really inspired by music I receive and I feel like I'm a kid at the candy store just trying to find the best melody and lyrics to fit the inspiring track!
