No, I'm not your father. What I am though, is your go-to guy for all things music related. My path has taken me from being a semi-professional trianglist in an Austrian school band to a gold-certified songwriter, music producer and multi-instrumentalist. I like to think of myself as an XLR jack of all trades – ranging from writing to releasing.
Since you have been lured to my profile by this dorky pitch already, just bear with me a little longer. Singer/songwriting student at the Popakademie Mannheim by day, I work as a musical freelancer by night. Whether you’re looking for a songwriting partner in crime who can deliver a pitch-ready demo afterwards or you’d like to commission a full-blown radio banger featuring nifty choruses and crisp rhythms from start to finish – I got you covered.
As ‘Mapex Drummer of Tomorrow’ winner and seasoned live and session drummer, I offer quick and professional vibey drum and percussion tracks. My man cave AKA feldhaus recording studio houses a top-notch singing microphone alongside a well-equipped mixing desk that are both eagerly waiting for me to record your background vocals. If a certain synth lord finds your lack of bass disturbing, I am only one call away to put you out of your misery. Mixing great music is my life’s mission.
The field of music I specialize in is best described as song-centered, sung music that is – at least to some extent – handmade. I enjoy having people over in my studio a lot. However – fret not – being the digital native that I am, a teensy global pandemic is not stopping me from going all-in for my clients remotely.

Awesome Job. We are happy!
Amazing sounding and grooving instrumentalist and vocalist. Versatile and fast in delivering exactly the sounds we wanted. Great pleasure to work with this experienced and talented artist.
We are very happy with the results and are going to order again. I recently mixed an amazing production completely done by Elias. The quality of the tracks was excellent and it was a pleasure to work on them He is working out of a beautiful facility with a killer live room. His drumming skills will blow you away. Vocals came in perfectly edited, tuned and polished. I could get right into the creative side of things. If clients ask me for recommendations, Elias is always a top choice.
Interview with Elias Walch
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Dominik Aster (great mixing engineer), Chris Kaufmann (awesome guitar player)
Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A: "Can you record ...?" Yes!
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: Beatles or Stones?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Talk with me about your vision. Your vision is my mission.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I first learned how to play the trombone, before I fell head over heels for my first drum set. In 2011, I participated in the “Mapex Drummer of Tomorrow” competition (category: under 18 years of age) and took home the trophy. I have not stopped learning how to play other instruments and also singing ever since. One of my biggest successes was playing the main role in a regional musical production on the Geierwally Freilichtbühne in Elbigenalp in 2018. Moreover, I also wrote most of the music for this play and acted as the musical director for the entire season. This further expanded my repertoire. In 2019, I realized that I needed to complement my practical skills with a thorough theoretical grounding in order to reach the next level in my musical career. That’s why I applied for the Pop Music Design programme at Popakademie Mannheim (Baden-Württemberg). After passing the auditions with flying colors, I started my academic journey with an emphasis on singing/songwriting in September 2019.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: The field of music I specialize in is best described as song-centered, sung music that is – at least to some extent – handmade. Any production is only as good as the song behind it and it is a prerequisite that said song can be performed with a simple guitar at a campfire. I am constantly looking for hybrid sounds, which combine acoustic and electronic elements and thrill the audience.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: The Beatles. Because yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Songwriting.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I do my best to communicate well and make the client as comfortable, encouraged, and inspired as possible.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Universal Audio interfaces, Neumann monitor speakers, Logic, Pro Tools, professionally treated room, lovely instruments, decent mics, cheap Nespresso coffee machine.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: Max Martin – best man on the planet.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: 'Your eyes can deceive you. Don’t trust them.' – Obi-Wan Kenobi
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: A great singer-songwriter EP, an elaborate jazz LP and a fancy YouTube channel.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital – 'Total Recall' is not just a movie but a lifesaver.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: You'll never live a boring moment with me.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: The food.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: Pro Tools is not a sewage treatment plant. Garbage in, garbage out.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Macbook, Universal Audio Apollo twin, Austrian Audio OC818 microphone, Austrian Audio Hi-X55 headphones and swim trunks, duh!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: My strong suit is pop, rock and EDM.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: All of it.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Producing, songwriting, mixing, playing the drums, singing background vocals.
