Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

A: Not the ordinary reply, but I will have to say leaving sound students happy and wanting more.

Q: What are you working on at the moment?

A: Mostly on acoustics consulting and microphones development.

Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

A: no.

Q: Analog or digital and why?

A: Neither are perfect, I was able to create great recording in all analog and all digital. It is about how utilize both formats.

Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

A: That both of us will be happy with the result.

Q: What do you like most about your job?

A: I'm sucker for physics. I always felt that this is the one profession that combines music, creativity and physics

Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A: Why so expensive?

Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

A: That it is simple and easy

Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

A: What music makes him/her excited?

Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

A: To have a direction and patience.

Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

A: Theoretically not possible because I need electricity, but a laptop, audio interface great headphones and DPA microphones. I'll work out the rest as long I have sufficient amount of water and food.

Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

A: Home studio as a hobby about 25 years ago. Completed Honour Degree in recording arts in Australia, and remain as a lecturer in the same establishment. Moved back to Israel and became audio department manager in a local professional audio distributor representing leading live and studio equipment while still involved in recording, mixing and mastering projects and lecturing in local colleges on various sound topics. Currently independent mix, mastering and acoustic engineer.

Q: How would you describe your style?

A: Open minded

Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

A: Front Line Assembly - the complexity of the productions is fascinating. I would love to work with Richard King on capturing acoustic ensemble.

Q: Can you share one music production tip?

A: HPF on all channels other than bass instruments. Phase alignment between acoustic sources.

Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

A: Usually Classic ensembles, Live jazz but also rock.

Q: What's your strongest skill?

A: Attention to details

Q: What do you bring to a song?

A: Sensitivity to artist's request.

Q: What's your typical work process?

A: Since we all get our inspiration from a certain production our artist, it is vital to have the clients' goal in mater of balance, timbre and loudness expectation so reference to style or even an artist's sound is important. A mix can be taken to so many directions so mutual understanding is important in order to achieve mutual satisfaction.

Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

A: I prefer to work in the box. There were some great hardware equipment I utilized over the years, but I prefer to have the ability to return to a session without worrying about how to recall the hardware settings that were used during the last session. I also find the additional D/A and A/D conversion is a compromise and of course the room the take and the maintenance they require.

A: Mostly the work of the other engineers such as Richard King, Al Schmitt and so many others
