Nick Drive on SoundBetter

Hey! I produce music specializing in mainstream pop, retro-style pop, pop rock, and EDM. Think The Weeknd, Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, and anything Radio / TikTok / Spotify ready and relevant to what's in the top charts. I'm here to take your song to the next level!

The #1 objective for me is to help bring the vision to your song. Once there is a vision, I can provide production support as a vessel to hit that goal for your song.

As I discovered after 10+ years of music producing, songwriting, mixing, and working with pros in the industry, a song that's ok with amazing production, will turn out just ok.
However, a solid song with amazing production is a solid song. So providing a song that you really believe in will benefit everyone.

Workflow:
Send me your idea/demo along with a few song references then let's make a banger!
From the ground up we'll build your song and you'll have my full-on engagement.

Services:
- Full music production
- Song arrangement & directing
- Mixing
- Mastering
- Instrumentation

Vocals:
*Vocal comping/tuning/timing is not part of the production package, this is an optional add-on to the project you submit.*
If you do want the *Pop vocal production* add-on, it'll be an additional cost & all vocals must be recorded on your end. Otherwise, any vocals sent will be automatically mixed.

I allow "producer royalty points" which is completely optional for releases. If you want to tip me, we can work it out afterward.

It was such a fun track to work on! It was also analog-tape mastered (lovely!) and Nick is such a nice guy! A fantastic gig.

Interview with Nick Drive

  1. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  2. A: Creating vocal melodies and music production (Specifically sound selection). I have an ear for sonics in instruments. What to use, and what doesn't work.

  3. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  4. A: I worked on this worship song some years back which had amazing talent involved with the project. I'm so happy I got to work with them as a writer, producer, and engineer.

  5. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  6. A: Writing some songs for the K-pop scene. Doing some collaborative work and looking forward to getting placements soon!

  7. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  8. A: Yes! Camilo Silva F is a great mastering engineer!

  9. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  10. A: Both. Analog has more girth, and digital is convenient.

  11. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  12. A: You have my 100% commitment to getting this song done to your satisfaction.

  13. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  14. A: Working with people and presenting what we created to the world!

  15. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  16. A: How long does it take to finish a song? It depends, sometimes a few days, sometimes a few weeks.

  17. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  18. A: When people hear my music with my vocals on it, they are always surprised it's me. People think I only produce music when In fact I song write and sing just as well.

  19. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  20. A: How soon would you need a song done & what are your plans for the song(s)?

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Be yourself!

  23. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  24. A: Considering there isn't any electrical power on this island, I would take an Acoustic guitar, a cajon, some kinda wind instrument flute, a shaker, and a Steinway piano.

  25. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  26. A: My career path is owning an entertainment business in music and film. Music in general I've been doing since I was 5. Always had the same vision. Nothing is changing with that.

  27. Q: How would you describe your style?

  28. A: I loved the 90s and early 2000s video games and the music that came out on those games. That style.

  29. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  30. A: Tears for Fears or system of a down. Because they rock!

  31. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  32. A: Less is more. It's not about production, it's about the song.

  33. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  34. A: Pop music, singer/songwriter, and EDM.

  35. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  36. A: I like to bring a sense of purpose and intentionality. I always lean on being set apart trying not to "Compete" but letting it be its own thing. Along with letting the storytelling/lyrics shine as well.

  37. Q: What's your typical work process?

  38. A: I start recording with guitar/keys and vocals ideas, then arrange the song, then start writing the lyrics. From there the rest is easy. It's always fun!

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: HS8 speakers, apollo interface, MacBook & Shure SM7B. I have every plugin in the book, I like working in the box. I also love my SH101, gotta have some classic gear.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: Max Martin is a legend of a producer. As far as music, I like lots of 80s pop & classic rock.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: Songwriting, producing, and topline work. Being in the publishing business requires me to wear a few extra hats, I enjoy it!
