Jason Moss is an absolute treasure! I have had the pleasure of working with him on two separate records now, and each time he has helped me to bring them home. He is so patient and knowledgeable on the entire post production process, and he lends his best ears to every mix he produces. He's also incredibly efficient! Jason is really a gifted engineer, wonderful collaborator, and all around great person. I'd highly recommend to anyone looking to take their music to another level.

Interview with Jason Moss

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I enhance and elevate the unique character of your music, rather than imprint a cookie-cutter sound on your tracks. This means I'm somewhat of a chameleon. If I do my job right, you shouldn't know a track was mixed by me when you listen to it. I'm not the mixer you go to for my sound — I'm the one you go to for your own.

  3. Q: What's your typical work process?

  4. A: I take a friendly and collaborative approach to mixing. I'll start your project with an exploratory call so I can understand the unique sound you're aiming for. This enables me to create custom mixes that bring the sound you hear in your head to life. Before I start mixing, I can provide feedback on your productions and recordings. I work with you to resolve roadblocks upfront, so you can get the most out of the mixing process. While mixing, if I have creative ideas about how to improve your production, I'll send you several alternate mixes to choose from. I provide you with options that elevate your music, so you end up with tracks that sound significantly better than what you started with. And after the mixing process is complete, I'm available to provide feedback and support during mastering. I help you navigate the music-making process from beginning to end, so you walk away with a record that will stand out and get noticed.

  5. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  6. A: I'm often asked if I do mastering. The answer is no, because it isn't what's best for your music. I'm a mixer who does nothing but live, eat and sleep mixing. There are lots of great mastering engineers that do the same for mastering. It's in your best interest to hire them to master your music — not a mixer who also does mastering on the side. You'll end up with a better-sounding record. I'm happy to refer you to a few mastering engineers I know and trust if need be.
