Frederik Jensen on SoundBetter

Do you want to sound like a brutal punch in the face? Then let me help you!

I can make your project come to life, and let you express your music, the way YOU want to. If you are looking for a songwriter, guitarist, vocalist, or mixing engineer for your recording, that will listen to your demands and work close together with you, look no further.

I've spent the past 10 years touring in Europe, and helping people from all over the world writing songs. I’ve lately studied sound production and mixing at Point Blank Music School and SSR in London, England. In spring 2021 I appeared on "Age of The Solipsist" by Mother of All together with bassist Steve Di Giorgio (Testament, Death, Ex-Obscura).

You can check out my portfolio on my website here:

My guitar playing is inspired by Ola Englund (Feared, The Haunted), Wes Hauch (Alluvial), and Brandon Ellis (The Black Dahlia Murder)

My vocals are mainly growl and scream inspired by Randy Blythe from Lamb of God, David Davidson from Revocation, and Joe Duplantier from Gojira

Do not hesitate to throw me a message about your project, and I'll give you a non-binding offer.

Kind Regards

- Frederik

Interview with Frederik Jensen

  1. Q: How would you describe your style?

  2. A: I would describe my style as very dynamic. If you want different parts in a song to work, you gotta have contrast. Breakdowns, fast sections, complex and simple parts have to respond to each other to make the best impact.

  3. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  4. A: Some of my great inspirations are Ola Englund, Keith Merrow and Wes Hauch. The things they have in common are, that each have en individual sound and they strife to make their playing fit the song. You'll have to think of the bigger picture, and maybe put your instrumental ego aside, to get the best end result.

  5. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  6. A: Don't say "I'll fix it it post" when recording. Try to be critical of your own playing, and maybe have another person take a listen, to gain a second perspective.

  7. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  8. A: I've done a lot of vocal performances on tracks from deep growl to more high pitched screams.

  9. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  10. A: For vocals I usually go for the trusty Shure SM7B. For guitar I have my old Gibson Explorer and for the more shreddy parts, my Jackson Soloist.

  11. Q: What's your typical work process?

  12. A: The first thing I try to do, is to really do my homework right. Get into the mind of my client and make them give me as much information about their expectations and influences. Then I'll work out a sketch, and I'll send it to my client to be sure, that we are on the right path. We'll then work towards the end product together.

  13. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  14. A: I bring experience, passion and talent.

  15. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  16. A: My knowledge of how much work and soul people put into their projects, and that it shall be treated with respect.

  17. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  18. A: The artist that carries about their music, and tries to communicate clearly about their vision.

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I started out producing the bands I've been involved in. Later I studied sound production in London.

  21. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  22. A: Do your homework. Try to make it clear what your are looking for and give as much information as possible.

  23. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  24. A: I ask about their inspirations and what the end goal for their project should be.

  25. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  26. A: That people are in it for the money. The most of us really do it, because we LOVE music, and want other people to have the same experience with their project.

  27. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  28. A: That I can make other people express themselves and make some kickass music!

  29. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  30. A: That we will work close together through the whole process.

  31. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  32. A: I'm the "in-the-box" digital kind of guy. Nowadays the virtual possibilities are endless, and in most cases the analog is not worth the extra hassle or price.

  • Shure SM7B microphone added to the arsenalAug 19, 2019

I just got my hands on the legendary Shure SM7B microphone. It works really well with my kind of harsh vocal. Click here to watch me testing it with a bit of "Walk With Me In Hell" by Lamb of God.
