My passion and primary area of work is acoustic, world and roots music as a musician and engineer. I have engineered or produced almost 100 full-length albums and played on more than 50 across the singer-songwriter, Americana, roots and world music genres. Whether you're recoding here, mixing or mastering with us, we'll make it sound real.

Since opening in 2009, Empty Sea has been a destination spot in the Pacific Northwest for acoustic, Americana and world music recording. From Cuban 'son' music to Nyckelharpa to down-home Southern rock, we've done it all, informed by owner Michael Thomas Connolly's deep love for the genres as a musician and engineer.

We span the range from singer/songwriters to traditional music from a number of cultures to acoustic jazz, a cappella, blues, Americana, and almost anything where capturing the true acoustic sound of instruments and voices is a priority.
