Julianne produced me a beautiful piano track and helped me arrange all the lyrics that I wasn't sure I wanted to keep into a song that became really special. She's someone I would love to work with again.

Interview with Julianne Hope
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I produced and wrote a song called "Break Up Sex" by Neriah and I genuinely had so much fun writing that one with her. She's an incredible artist, and making the production epic served the lyric and melody exactly how I wanted it to.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Digital for convenience :)
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: That they're gonna be happy with what we come up with. And I won't stop until we get there!
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I was a songwriter first and foremost, and even though I am a full time producer now, you don't have a good song if you don't have a great melody and lyric. The production could be huge but it means nothing if the song isn't there.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What is the expected turn around time and do you plan on releasing this music?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: I'd just say be willing to try new things with your music and your sound, and communicate all the little ideas you have so I can help you achieve what you want!
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: My guitar, interface, mic, speakers and a laptop.
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I grew up playing drums in bands, but i've been producing since I was 17. I moved to LA 6 years ago to start doing it full time.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Everything is based on feel and making each part a moment...
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: I think working with Taylor Swift would be pretty cool. She's always saying things in the most poetic way, and I can tell she always wants to evolve her sound.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Step away from your work if you've been working on something all day. listen the next day, you need fresh perspective.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Lots of pop/indie/pop punk stuff lately. But i do a bit of everything.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I'd say communication, especially when it comes to working together on a song. You've gotta be able to talk to the artist and understand what they want.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Feel, and making sure the message is powerful
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: I love to craft the song first before hitting production. If the song only requires production, I wanna know what the client wants exactly before jumping in. If they're not sure that's okay! I can send samples and ideas of the process.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: I use Fender guitars and I have a few acoustics. I also use an sm7b mic, and an apollo twin for my interface.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm constantly inspired by Jack Antonoff, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Maroon 5 and more.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: I love doing pop and rock productions, I also love making hip-hop beats in my spare time. I really focus on the songwriting before jumping into the production.
