Interview with Noor Che'ree

  1. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  2. A: I'm currently working on a producing a couple albums and EPs in addition to composing music from my expeditions with Symphonic Planet, we are also preparing our first season of our TV show for streaming from our music adventures, and I also work as a filmmaker, creating a lot of content and music videos for other clients professionally.

  3. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  4. A: 24Violins, Jonas Petersen is the best you can get to get your live studio string work done in 24 hours for a flat rate. I am blessed to have him as a business partner in many occasions, including our other company Symphonic Planet traveling the world composing music.

  5. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  6. A: Be prepared to spend some time looking for the best provider for yourself. Everyone is unique in their own way, I feel the best providers are the ones that try to connect with your personality and your wants. Quality is something you don't want to rush if you want creativity and love to show in the result of your work. Sometimes it may be hard to see the end in mind but trust your provider. Part of our job is play a magic show and show you at the end how we can take something from obscure and breathe life into it.

  7. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  8. A: I have been blessed to grow up in a music/studio production and performance family for my entire life, I continued my career in the US Marine Band and wanted to provide my experience in the music industry further in LA. Overtime I have worked with a wide variety of clients in the music and film industry and my experience has become valuable to the services I provide.

  9. Q: What's your typical work process?

  10. A: Depending on the nature of the job and client my typical process starts with listening to what the client's needs are and what their vision is, listen to their influences and form a proposal of how to tailor our work process to best utilize our production schedule, execute and finalize. But there is a lot of room for creativity and changing things up for a unique result and experience.

  11. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  12. A: I have my own studio filled with drum kits, acoustic piano and a variety of instruments with a controlled studio recording environment.

  13. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  14. A: My TV music publishing company just accepted all of my compositions for a major Netflix TV show that I am unfortunately not allowed to state until after the NDA contract has ended. Buuuut if you check out symphonicplanet.com you will see how proud I am to have travelled around the world collecting rare sounds and studying unique music and composing with a live orchestra and my experiences with them.

  15. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  16. A: BOTH. everyone has their preferences, I believe in being open minded there is a time and place for every project.

  17. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  18. A: That I will give them my best effort always.

  19. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  20. A: I help make a difference in peoples lives and most importantly I make them happy.

  21. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  22. A: Can you do something like this? or Can you help me find my sound? my answer is always YES.

  23. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  24. A: Frankly, I don't really know. I would love your feedback on that. I have never had that issue before.

  25. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  26. A: What is your vision? Do you have reference music? What is your target market? What is your timeframe?

  27. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  28. A: ooooh tricky. Macbook pro, midi-keyboard, NS Design Radius bass, headphones and a ZOOM H6. I hope the island has plenty of coconuts...

  29. Q: How would you describe your style?

  30. A: I am in this creative realm testing out new ideas and techniques in composing. I noticed over the last year in my original work I love painting a portrait of sounds slowly getting the listener to grab the concept of the song and then blasting them into an epic journey and a spice of meditation at the end.

  31. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  32. A: I'd love to work with Lido and Michael League, both composers have an incredible way of inviting you to another musical dimension and you feel the rush of exploring new musical landscapes in your mind.

  33. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  34. A: Patience and communication. That includes listening to what the client wants and spending the time to find the joy and excitement in working on their project it develops long lasting relationships and builds healthy rapport.

  35. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  36. A: Honestly, I typically work on everything due to the nature of how diverse my clientele is and the demands of having to compose genres A-Z for TV shows.

  37. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  38. A: Creative song development and developing the artist's/clients unique, signature sound that separates them from all of their competitors.

  39. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  40. A: I bring a wealth of experience and knowledge in a diverse realm of music. The most crucial detail in the production is the identity and soul of the song and how the production helps tell the story of the song and the artist.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: 24violins inspires me, Snarky Puppy, Lido, Tracy Carter. All of these people and more have unique and beautiful approaches to production and composition thats absolutely revolutionary.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.

  44. A: I find myself mostly producing/arranging albums and EPs for clients, and composing for Netflix TV shows.
