P R I A S on SoundBetter

Hey there! I’m sure you’re looking for someone who will bring the same passion and dedication to your project as you do, and I think you’ve come to the right place! My passion is audio and music, and for me, art always comes first.

I’ve been a producer, mixing engineer, and songwriter for 15 years, working out of my own studio, La Gran Manzana Estudio, where many big names in Latin music have passed through.

I got started in music back in school, and during my last few years, I began learning production. Later, I studied music and audio production at Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and I also did a songwriting specialization at Berklee.

When I set up my production and recording studio, I gained experience in a wide range of production processes, from recording and vocal editing to mixing and mastering. I’ve just upgraded my studio with a Dolby Atmos room, so I’ll soon be offering that service as well.

I’ve had the pleasure of working with numerous independent artists, both as a recording engineer and a producer, mixing engineer, and mastering engineer. For the last six years, I’ve dedicated about 90% of my time to mixing, mastering, and music production. I work in a hybrid mixing environment using top-of-the-line gear, including specialized analog-to-digital converters, compressors, and equalizers.

The two most successful songs of my musical career were produced by Alejo Prias, who not only did an excellent job as a music producer, but also contributed very good ideas as a composer. His studio "La Gran Manzana" has the equipment that reaches the highest production standards.

I have worked with Prias since 2018, as a producer is one of the best I have known, but as mixing engineer is definitely amazing, with out doubt it is his natural skill, his hearing capacity and the his love for details, makes him one of the best in this profession.

Working with PRIAS has been an incredible experience. I can tell that he is super compromised, well-organized, and dedicated. Besides being a super talented musician, his skills as an engineer, producer, and songwriter are outstanding, and you can tell he has a life of experience in this industry. Also, PRIAS creates a professional working environment, where everything flows smoothly, and you also enjoy spending time with him.

Interview with P R I A S

  1. Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?

  2. A: One of my proudest moments was being the songwriter and vocal producer for 'Cielo,' a track brought to life by the mesmerizing performance of Manuel Medrano and the legendary Nile Rodgers. To see it soar past 8 million Spotify streams is nothing short of a dream realized. Collaborating with these icons, who have always been my idols, was a true pinch-me moment.

  3. Q: What are you working on at the moment?

  4. A: At this juncture, I find myself engaged in a multifaceted role, simultaneously working on numerous mix projects and producing a lot of emerging artists, individuals of whom I am unequivocally certain will etch their names into the industry's history.

  5. Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?

  6. A: There's an abundance of talent on SoundBetter. One of my biggest inspirations in mixing, someone I deeply admire, is Mosty, and he's right here on SoundBetter.

  7. Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?

  8. A: You won't regret partnering with me. Together, we'll elevate your production and songs to the next level. I'm committed to investing 100% of my energy and talent to exceed your expectations.

  9. Q: What do you like most about your job?

  10. A: I thrive on collaborating with emerging artists, helping them inch closer to achieving their goals and dreams. And, naturally, my boundless passion for music and audio knows no limits.

  11. Q: What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

  12. A: Each client is a universe, and their questions often vary depending on the specific service they are seeking.

  13. Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?

  14. A: The most common misconception about my work is believing that something poorly produced or fundamentally flawed at its core can be magically transformed into excellence through mixing or mastering. In reality, when a product is poorly recorded or executed from the outset, no amount of mixing or even the finest analog audio equipment can rescue it. This holds true for music production as well; if the song in its rawest form is lacking, it won't sound competitive or incredibly commercial, no matter the post-production efforts.

  15. Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?

  16. A: Try for maximum organization to expedite and enhance the process, making it smoother and more enjoyable for both him and my entire team.

  17. Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?

  18. A: My Headphones, Laptop, Interface, one Sm7b and my LA2A hardware!

  19. Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?

  20. A: I've been immersed in the world of music practically my entire life. It all began when I started studying music in school, and my connection with music has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. My journey in audio production spans around a decade, during which I've honed my craft. For the past six years, I've proudly operated my own studio, 'La Gran Manzana Estudio.' Over time, I've managed to establish it as one of the top studios in Colombia.

  21. Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?

  22. A: With anyone looking to take their project to the next level.

  23. Q: Can you share one music production tip?

  24. A: Always strive to be as authentic as can be, stay true to your intuition, and honor the music within you. Never let your decisions be swayed by the desires of others.

  25. Q: What's your strongest skill?

  26. A: My greatest skill in audio lies in my ability to take raw material and elevate it to a competitive and professional level. However, what matters most to me is striving for the utmost commercial appeal. My goal is to reach the broadest audience possible, making a significant impact on as many people as I can

  27. Q: What do you bring to a song?

  28. A: I'm passionate about delivering top-tier audio quality and infusing a high level of creativity into my production work. What truly sets me apart as a producer and mixing engineer is my unwavering commitment to achieving a 100% commercial sound.

  29. Q: What's your typical work process?

  30. A: My workflow process is flexible, tailored to the client's specific needs. I always keep the client's ultimate goal at the forefront. My aim is to meet and exceed their expectations. A crucial aspect of my process is seeking references and understanding the client's source of inspiration. This enables me to align perfectly with their vision and create a product that harmoniously reflects their desires and expectations.

  31. Q: Analog or digital and why?

  32. A: I work hybrid, I have analog processes such as compression, some eqs and summing but I work in digital fx, editing and more from my creative process.

  33. Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?

  34. A: Which is your style? Who are your refs? and what are you looking with this song?

  35. Q: How would you describe your style?

  36. A: Profesional and high quality.

  37. Q: What type of music do you usually work on?

  38. A: Latin Pop, Reggaeton, Rnb, Hip hop, Trap.

  39. Q: Tell us about your studio setup.

  40. A: I have been investing for several years in my own studio and in the right equipment to be as competitive as posible in the audio industry. I have everything form analog summing, legendary analog compressors like the Universal Audio LA2A, Very high quality monitors (ATC) and two of the best Ad Da of the market.

  41. Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?

  42. A: My musical roots are a blend of timeless influences. The Beatles and '90s rock ignited my passion, but pop music is where my heart truly resides. I draw inspiration from legendary producers like Max Martin, Tainy, and Mauricio Rengifo, who redefine the industry. With a deep love for pop, I aim to create music that resonates universally and leaves a lasting impression.

  43. Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
