Specialised in afrobeat & danceable bass grooves

Being a semi-professional musician for the past 5 years I have specialised my playing in a few things: catchy, creative grooves, and funky timing resulting in percussive and danceable bass grooves.

My main focus goes out to high energy (modern), repetitive afrobeat/funk-style playing. Timing and playing in service of the track come first before decorating stuff. I'm available for both creative and structured parts. I play both fingerstyle and with a plectrum on fretted basses and prefer learning songs by ear. Please be very clear in what you have in mind so I can decide whether I can deliver the groove you are hearing in your head. I'll always be straight whether I can deliver or refer you to a specialist.

About my setup:
I record with high quality equipment in Logic Pro X. Usually using my Glockenklang Soul as a DI, with a Darkglass BK7 as a pre-amp. My Musicman Cutlass provides P-style tones, cutting through the mix. The Hofner 187, loaded with flatwounds, provides everything in the range of classic soul to pounding lows.

About me:
I have played >150 liveshows and worked on numerous recordings, including Zitakula's full length, multiple EP's and several recordings of projects in the Netherlands. Next to my playing I'm the executive producer at Good Sounds Music Studio's, Amsterdam.

So: searching for a afrobeat/funk-style player? Let's make some music!

Pieter is our producer at Good Sounds. He's a steady, funky and tight bass player. Good to work with.
