Interview with Ben Treimer
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: Broadcast television and radio commercials at the moment. Ready to start up my next music project!
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Both! By utilizing both analog and digital, you maximize your ability to be creative while also producing rich and interesting tones.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: That a bad song can be fixed in the mix and mastering stage.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Fender Rhodes Mk1, Roland Space Echo, AKG 414 B-ULS, CAPI VP28, RADAR Studio
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Think deliberately about each section of your song and ask yourself why the listener will want to hear it. For example: Make sure you have a good reason for the 32 bar jam before the last chorus.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Communication and the ability to get great performances out of musicians.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Hybrid. I use outboard gear for processing individual audio tracks and do the bulk of the editing/production/mixing in a combination of Logic and ProTools.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Full song production, mixing, and MIDI programming.
