Hello Everyone!!!
My name is Yoosuf Blake. I am music producer/ songwriter from Los Angeles, CA. I love making music that evokes all types of emotion out of a listener. I focus primarily on the music and the lyrics. Usually, when I work with someone I try to get a fill for their sound and direction. I'll listen to some of their previous work to get an general outline of their style, range, and tone. I create music that brings out the mood of the artist in that moment. I am able to create tracks from the ground up and if you have ready recorded vocals I am able to create around them as well. I try to be as versatile and flexible as possible. I can show you better than I can tell you :)
If you feel I may be a perfect fit, lets work!!!!! #LetTheWorkSpeakForItself

Interview with Yoosuf Blake
Q: What are you working on at the moment?
A: At the moment I am currently working on completing records for my artist and creating a system to pitch for sync licensing.
Q: What's the biggest misconception about what you do?
A: I think the biggest misconception comes down to pricing and what people believe something should be worth versus what they can afford. It takes hours to learn a craft. You put the work in and eventually create a system to reach a result much faster. People pay for your skill and time.
Q: Which artist would you like to work with and why?
A: Honestly, I don’t have any specific artist in mind. I’m willing to work with who is drawn to me. Music is about energy! I enjoy creating with people who have a great spirit, work ethic, attitude, and are respectful.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: I would say never stop learning. Don’t be hard on yourself throughout your journey. The moments of feeling like your aren’t good at something will pass with consistency. Stick with it and you’ll reach your goal!
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: My current set up is: Logic Pro, Reason, A Midi Keyboard, Maschine, Kaotica Eyeball, Sterling Audio Microphone and an ART preamp.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I grew up on a diverse amount of music; soul, funk, caribbean, pop, and r&b. I’m inspired by artist like Frank Ocean, Anderson Paak, Andre 3000, SIR,James Brown, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder etc.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I use digital because of the accessibility but I would be open to analog. I always hear that it gives a certain richness to the music.
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: I think my strongest skill is exercising my ability to be patient and consistent.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: My promise to my clients will be to always deliver and put my all into every project. I know what it is like to get work that I was unsatisfied with. So, my job is to bring all elements out to my best ability: Musically and Vocally!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the process from the beginning to the end; working with someone and seeing everything begin to transpire! All the work that takes place at our level is the magic of the process. You get to see growth, and you also get to create something that can possibly have an affect on a majority.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What vision do you see? and what message are you trying to convey through each work?
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Work with someone you feel matches the vision you are trying to create! The process should flow organically to get the best out of the work!
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been involved in the arts since I was a kid. Music was the last thing I picked up on. I stuck with it and our relationship has been great ever since. I have been doing music since 2008, I began writing first and then I progressed into the musical side of things right after. Music has been around me all my life though; I believe that is why I progressed quickly and efficiently.
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Eclectic, Organic, A Breathe of Fresh Air!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: I usually work on a lot of Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, and Electronic. But, what I will say is I believe in experimenting with other genres; blending them together. I try not to place limitations on myself or my capabilities. We never know what we can do unless we try. It may not be the standardized form, but that is good too. We can always use something new!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: Honestly, It is not just about me in this process. It is about both the artist and I; what we can we bring together as one to make the best work possible.
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually, when I work I go in with a fresh mind. I never come in with premeditated ideas. All my work is usually improvisational. I try to let everything flow organically. Art is not meant to be forced, but it is meant to be nurtured. Some of the best work is created when you are in the moment. It takes time to create a masterpiece.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common work I do for my clients is production and songwriting work.
