We're happy to work with you!
Welcome to Progtone Studio!
We are a small recording studio in Germany consisting of Phil Mensinga (Mixing, Engineering, Producing) and Björn Bodenschatz(Engineering, Edits, Mixing). We offer you complete productions of your songs, mixing and mastering.
We both are studied musicians who love to write and record music. And we'd love to work on your song or project with you!
To us it's crucial to create an "acoustic truth" in close cooperation with each individual artist. The production is supposed to show the artist's intention as well as the intensity of the performance. All of that combined gives an unforgettable listening experience which we strive for.
Thanks to our professional education and experience in recording, mixing and producing music, we learned to give each piece a personal character of its own!
Send me an email through 'Contact' button above and I'll get back to you asap.
Interview with Progtone Studio
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: Actually, both. Because nothing can beat the actual sound of analog gear. But the digital world can offer you unlimited possibilities as well!
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: We promise you to work hard for your project so that you can be happy about the sound we can achieve for you!
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: We love the creative aspect of it. Music is a language everyone can speak and there is nothing more individual and personal than a good sounding song!
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: The more info you have for us, the better! Describe your project as detailed as possible so that we can make the right mixing and editing choices with you!
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Usually we work on metal music in its entirety but we also work on many other genres and projects. There are basically no limits! Even if its Jazz...
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Our strongest skill is our work ethic: no shortcuts! We want you to be satisfied with your project so we work hard for it!
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: What we can bring to a song depends on the style and genre the given project is in. But in general we try to create unique sounding songs with a character of their own!
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: Usually we first get an idea or a demo from a client and we start from there. After every detail has been discussed, the tracking process can begin. After everything has been recorded, we start with editing, mixing etc.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: We are inspired by Joey Sturgis, Steven Slate, Jordan Valeriote, Adam "Nolly" Getgood and many more.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Since one of our team members is already on SoundBetter providing live drum tracks, I'd recommend him: Jonas Schütz
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Get it right at the source! Never do "fix it in the mix"!
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: Most commonly we do tracking of the instruments, editing, mixing and mastering.
