Lucy is a phenomenal talent. We’ve created together for 10 years or so. She hits the notes, she takes direction. Her range is insane. Most important to me is her imagination + ability to improvise. Melodies, harmonies, whatever. I usually end up using her adlibs rather than my written parts. Also, she’s funny AF and a good hang. Simply put, Lucy will elevate your track. Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love surprising clients and making them even more excited about their song.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: What sounds have inspired you? What vibe are you going for? Are you open to more harmonies and ad libs?
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: Taste
Q: What's your typical work process?
A: For just singing work, I will learn the song, work to test out tone and vibe, send a test of a half song and after approval, record the final as agreed upon with the client. For songwriting - it can be a bit longer because no one wants a factory song.
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: At home, I use an UA APOLLO TWIN with the SHURE SM7B using Logic X. I have relationships with different engineers and can hire them to record at top quality.
Q: What other musicians or music production professionals inspire you?
A: I'm inspired by singers who bare their souls, folk singers from the past, super honest lyrics and gorgeous melodies. Amazing harmonies and people trying to create something meaningful.
Q: Describe the most common type of work you do for your clients.
A: The most common type of work I get is singing and writing to enhance their song. Bringing my own sound, taste and harmonies that help finish the song.
Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: I really enjoyed singing a cover of Buddy Holly's "Everyday" for an IKEA spot.
Q: What type of music do you usually work on?
A: Typically I'm called in for a genuine raw sound. I'm not a polished Pop Diva but in my pocket I bring a tone and vibe that works beautifully with moody songs, folk covers and other vibey sounds.
Q: What do you bring to a song?
A: I bring a raw authentic sound. My voice is beautifully intimate. I have a great ear for harmony and good taste in ad libbing and I give my clients a lot to play around with.
