First time working with Matt as a mixer and the experience was amazing! Was actually very pleased and surprised that the first mix sounded that great especially after never having worked together before! Really knows what he’s doing and is patient, professional, and kind. Live drums are no easy feat to make sound amazing all the time but Matt knocked it out of the park. Interview with Matt Bishop

Q: Tell us about a project you worked on you are especially proud of and why. What was your role?
A: As an engineer on U2's "Songs Of Experience" it was a very high pressure environment that had no room for error. It was a lot of hard work and long hours that helped me learn a lot about myself. It was such an honor to be able to create music with true living legends.
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I cant live without either. The convenience of digital mixed with the unpredictability of analog is really the golden ticket.
Q: What's your 'promise' to your clients?
A: To help them achieve something they will be proud of.
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: I love the variety in what I do. I love being able to help someone realize the full potential in their art.
Q: If you were on a desert island and could take just 5 pieces of gear, what would they be?
A: Laptop, Universal Apollo Interface, Stratocaster, Juno 6, SM7
Q: What was your career path? How long have you been doing this?
A: I have been working full time as a producer/mixer/engineer for the last 11 years in Los Angeles. I started my career as an intern at Clearlake Audio in Burbank, CA. My time there allowed me to meet many people and make connections that lead to full-time engineering for producer Jacknife Lee. Working with Jacknife really allowed me to hone my skills and learn from some of the greatest musicians and producers in the world.
Q: Can you share one music production tip?
A: Perfect is boring
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Pro Tools and Logic are my DAW's of choice. I try and have instruments and gear that inspire creativity and exploration.
