Interview with illberg
Q: Tell us about your studio setup.
A: Nothing too fancy. MacBook Pro with an Apollo Twin. I use Focal Solo6 monitors, and then a bunch of guitars, piano, a couple keyboards. SM7b to record most things.
Q: Is there anyone on SoundBetter you know and would recommend to your clients?
A: Jacob Andersson (recverba) is an awesome mixer that I've worked a lot with. Would recommend him for any genre, especially pop and acoustic stuff.
Q: What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A: Be as specific as you can with what you're looking for. Since all of the work here is done remotely it’s good to make sure that everyone involved have a shared vision for the project.

A: Pop with a gritty twist
Q: What's your strongest skill?
A: When it comes to production I think creating melodies in the music is my strongest suit. Also I've worked in a lot of different genres so I think I'm pretty good at adapting to whatever the artist is looking for.

A: Production & mixing
Q: Analog or digital and why?
A: I like to record stuff and commit to sounds using real instruments and analog gear and then tweak it in the box, so I guess a combination of both.
Q: What questions do you ask prospective clients?
A: I usually ask for references if there aren’t any included. If there’s a demo, I’ll want to know what they like and don’t like about it. That usually makes the process easier.
